Two concerned citizens want Parliament to inquire into the “unresolved cases of sodomy”. Ms Florence Ibi Ekwau, the Kaberamaido Woman MP, and Pastor Solomon Male, the executive director of Arising for Christ, claimed the police is not addressing the problem.

“Many times, when somebody complains they have been sodomised, the police treat that person like a suspect. So Parliament must intervene,” Mr Male said during a press conference at Parliament yesterday.

Ms Ekwau said: “When Parliament resumes next week, I will petition it. We have laws that criminalise sodomy. But the police are killing the cases – because a lot of money changes hands.”

Their calls come four days after Mulago Hospital discharged Mr Sulaiman Kasolo, a 27-year-old man, who claims he was sodomised in Lugazi, Kampala on April 12 by an Asian investor.

Mr Kasolo said yesterday at Parliament that although he had reported the case to Lugazi Police Station, he was instead, ‘charged with giving false information’. He is out on police bond, which was processed on May 6.
