Sumter SC Bureau 06/22/2013
A Pastor in Sumter North
Carolina has been charge with not only criminal sex
acts with children but also for trying to steal the home of one of the victims
using a Quit Claim Deed.
Apostle
Larry Durant, 58,
(of WORD International Ministries on Guignard
Drive) was arrested Friday and charged with
sexually assaulting three female members of the Word International Ministry
church in Sumter
where he is the minister.
Family
members told police that Durant coerced the victims into having sex with him on
many occasions between 2011 and 2013, the incidents allegedly occurred both at
church facilities and at the pastor’s residence.
Durant was
charged with two counts of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct - with a minor
between the ages of 11-14- and four counts of 3rd degree criminal sexual
conduct.
He is also
charged with forgery after allegedly forging the name of one of the victim’s
grandmothers on a Quit Claim Deed and filing it with the Sumter County Register
of Deeds office, police said.
Police have
said that both victims and their families who told investigators that DuRant
allegedly forced the children to participate in various sexual acts. He used
his position in the church, according to reports, claiming the occurrences were
part of a “healing
process” and “private prayer.”
This is what
happens when church members give a pastor too much control of the children and
their lives say spokesperson from The Church Folk Revolution (www.PimpPreacher.com).
“We feel
the parents of these children place them in a very dangerous postion by not
only leaving them alone with this pastor, but also allowing them to go to his
house. With all of the stories of Rape by Pastor it’s mind blowing how naïve,
and reckless these parents were with the safety of their children.”
Police say
this Pastor did only want the children in the worst way but he also attempted
to steal their home. These members give Larry DuRant complete control over
their families and their property – this should prove to be a real case study
on why church members should not trust everything that comes out of the mouth
of their pastor.
