Fast rising phony churches ringing alarm bells

Nicholas Sengoba

May 1 , 2007

An HIV+ lady allegedly seeking miraculous healing from a church in exchange for her car is heading to court because she claims the church has not delivered the promised cure.

Had the lady, Ms Frances Adroa – a friend – carried out an internet (google) search on the said controversial Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) probably she wouldn't have this dilemma on her plate.

Similarly, had the UCKG done its home work, they would have adopted the current dubious practice. Asking for cash or "seed money" (instead of a physical asset) to be "sown" in the Lord for the "fruit of His wonders" as is done by most sprouting religious organisations in Uganda today. This helps to avoid any traces, when the faithful (whom they usually short change) come knocking.

The exponential rise of phony churches which claim to have a base in the Pentecostal movement is quite alarming. Their ideology is usually founded on the principle that all human circumstances are the consequences of blessings or curses and demonic possession.

They practice exorcism, miracle healing, speaking in tongues, interpretation of dreams, prophesying and fortune telling etc at crusades, overnights, on radio and TV and conduct colourful worship ceremonies punctuated by music, dance and drama.

What makes them quite popular is that theirs is an exciting message of abundant prosperity through prayer and anointing administered by leaders of the church. Commonly prayed for are acquisition of "visas to America", spouses, jobs, money and healing of diseases especially those that have defied modern medicine like disability, cancer and HIV/Aids.

The leaders of these churches are very revered men and women with titles such as "prophet/prophetess", "evangelist" or simply " pastors." They are usually flashy and dapper with the gift of the garb which is complimented by theatrics in the delivery of the word of God. Their sermons are filled with testimonies of success and material wealth borne out of their anointing.

An impression is given, of having an exclusive special relationship with God; with whom they communicate frequently and casually unlike their followers. They do not encourage Christians to read and interpret the Bible on their own.

Their version of Christianity is made to sound as complex and unfathomable as rocket science whose codes only they can crack for their followers.
Consequently they become the focal point and appear larger than Christ himself. They intimidate, bless and curse as the situation may warrant and this is how they take hold of the faithful whom they cow into humility and submission.

In countries where the social safety net is literally full of holes, with for instance rife unemployment, a broken and inaccessible health care system and poor service delivery, the number of desperate people can only increase.

Since the state is weak and can't provide adequately for the redemption of its citizens, many find solace in the church which from time immemorial has provided charity to the needy.

With the a type of exciting and optimistic teaching that is not founded in the Bible, the self seeking "man of God" can then ready himself to exploit many of these distressed innocent people.

The Bible says in Matt 10: 7-8 when Christ was sending out his disciples he warned that "as you go, preach this message 'the kingdom of heaven is near' heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give!" Obviously the one who sells blessings has not read this.

Then Acts 8:17-21 tells the story of Simon offering Peter and John money so that he too could have miraculous abilities to which he was rebuked thus… "may your money perish with you because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this Kingdom…" It is important to read and understand this before parting ways with your money for a blessing!

Matt 7:21-23 cautions that not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven… Many will say to me on that day, "did we not prophesy and drive out demons and perform miracles in your name?" Then I will tell them plainly I never knew you, away from me, you evildoers!"

Matt 24:23-24 further admonishes that at one time; if anyone says to you "look here is the Christ!" do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles!

Lastly Matt 7:15 reprimands Christians to "watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep clothing but inwardly they are ferocious wolves!"

The eyes should be opened, not every church or pastor will lead you to heaven. Some may rob you and take you through hell on earth – even when they perform miracles.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.(1 John 4:1)

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:(Psalms 66:18)

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.(1 Peter 3:11)

Sister Sarah Muchwa Mwamba claims that God spoke to her and revealed to her the evil his people in Uganda are doing, EVILS that are going to bring judgments of blood shed and economic crises upon the nation. She reiterates that the evils include; lying to get wealth, ritual murders and use of witchcraft. She says that judgment will begin in the house of the lord, because the born again saints have forsaken their first love. According to the article below, Sarah has started mobilising born again Christians to intercede on behalf of the nation so that the lord can forgive the nation. Many pastors and churches have come to join her at KCC city gardens. These include; Pastors Ebo , Joseph Sserwadda, Robert Mugga , Ssenyonga and other from abroad.

Also see, Prophetess calls upon Ugandans to repent

My Analysis

There is no doubt that the sins talked about by Sarah are the same sins, Me and Brother. Kato have been warning people about. We have in particular warned Pastor Joseph Serwadda about apostasy and spiritual fornication but to no avail. I’m surprised that Pastor Sserwadda is one of the people who will be part of the intercessory prayers. Who is fooling who here?? Do you think God will hear your prayers , if they are not followed by a turning way from sin and a separation from apostasy and all unrighteousness. SORRY, WITHOUT A 100% TURN AWAY FROM SINS(apostasy , spiritual fornication, political harlotry, extortion etc) God will not hear you. This so called revelation is used by the devil to trade the deception that Uganda’s rotten prosperity movement is concerned about repentance. WHY IS SARAH SILENT ABOUT THE PASTORS WHO ARE GUILTY OF LYING AND HARLOTRY? IF THE LIKES OF PASTOR KAKANDE, LULE, SOZI etc come for the prayers, are they welcome??? STOP WASTING GUTS, GOD’S JUDGEMT IS ALREADY UPON THE PROSPERITY, APOSTATE CHURCH IN UGANDA. THERE IS NO PEACE COMING BUT RATHER DOOM AND GLOOM.

They have asked Maama Fiina to remove the witchcraft from Mabira

Pastors of the born again ruling council in Mukono have asked the police to force Ms Namutebi, alias Maama Fiina and her fellow devil worshippers to remove the witchcraft they planted in Mabira forest because it will cause accidents.

This took place at a press conference in Mountain Lebanon church last week. They were brainstorming on government’s plan to lease part of Mabira forest .

Pastor Cemba Mangeni of victorious life church and pastor Samuel Lwandasa of Mountain Lebanon church said that the witchcraft will sleigh even innocent, will increase motor accidents and will destruct the users of this forest.

‘’Maama Fiina and her fellow devil worshippers who planted witchcraft in Mabira forest should be arrested by the police and charged with planting life endangering witchcraft’’ they said.

They requested President Museveni and Indian business man Mehta to listen to the cry of the people and hence abandon the plan to lease away part of Mabira forest .They said that they should instead find alternative land else where.

My analysis

The pastors are glorifying the devil instead of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is indicative of the political Christianity and political fornication that has crippled into the born again churches in Uganda. The action of these pastors is a ridicule of the Lord Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross. WHAT A SHAME!! How can you put trust in the police. To begin with, the police has arrested many Mabira protestors. Despite the fact that the planting of witchcraft in Mabira by Maama Fiina and her fellow Satanists was also protest against the give way of part of Mabira, the Satanist went way with it.

They have not been condemned or even arrested by the police. Satanists have carried out many ritual murders in Uganda, but surprisingly they have gone way with it. There is no doubt that they have supporters in high offices. Under the circumstances how can you put trust in the police as far as the fighting of witchcraft is concerned. The Satanists are nothing. We have the lion of Judah, the Lord Jesus Christ who has defeated the devil. Let them put their Witchcraft in Mabira , the Lord Jesus Christ will crash it if and only if we put trust in him. Turning to the police is carnality and therefore biblically nonsensical. The word of God categorically states that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strong holds(2 Corinthians 10:4).

Let me ask the pastors these questions, Will you turn to the police to arrest the people in Kampala city who are using witchcraft in their businesses? Will turn to the police to arrest companies that use occult and witchcraft symbols? Why don’t you turn to the police to arrest the pastors in your midst who are practising witchcraft. Stop your hypocrisy . WAKE UP MUKONO PASTORS, IT SEEMS YOU ARE NOT READING YOUR BIBLES.

Fr. Musaala takes his music to born again churches

The singer Rev.Fr. Anthony Aliddeki Musaala amazed people last Sunday when he sung his songs in Ambassadors of Jesus Christ church at Namungoona under the Pastor ship of Elton Joseph Mabirizi.

Fr. Musaala arrived at the church at about 4:00pm accompanied by the Gospel Groovers team. He joined the Christian music gala which was hosting George Mukisa, Victor Choir, Worship team among others. Fr. Musaala sung his popular songs; Jesus’ Music, He is the father, and we are on a Journey.

My Analysis

The catholic plan to drag Pentecostal and charismatic Christians to Rome is already unfolding. The catholic church is using its charismatic cult which has a lot in common with Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity, to trade the deception that it is the only source of salvation. Christians should be ware of the catholic church’s trick to unite all faiths. All churches that join hands with Catholicism are spiritual fornicators and whores. Despite pastor musaala’s deceptive songs which play on certain born again stations, he is still a staunch catholic that believes in the rosary , scapulas. He still believes that Mary remained a virgin after the birth of Jesus Christ , he believes that Mary is a co-redeemer, he believes in purgatory and a lot of extra biblical nonsense from Rome. How can you have fellowship with such a person. The word God is very clear come out from her(Revelation 18:4).

My analysis

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord” (Isaiah 55:8).

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness(1 Corinthians 3:19)

This is my analysis of a prophecy below that a so called prophetess in Masaka received. If this lady received a prophecy from God, Why is she beating around the bush. Why is her message confused? IS SHE AFRAID OF LOSING HER NECK?? She says the voice of the people is the voice of God. IS THIS SCRIPTUAL??? If the voice of the people is the voice of God, why is she telling people to leave the Mabira saga alone. Our God is not a God of Confusion. Ugandans saints should be ware of the trick of the devil to bring in confusing prophesies so as to hide the real problem.

Only God has authority over Mabira

I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ .After praying for our Country, the Lord has given me the following message to deliver to you. The message goes to all Ugandans including our president and the government. The message is as follows:

I request all Ugandans to watch whatever they do because God can hear and see all. Secondly, I want you to know that there is no authority that does not come from God. If you misuse this authority God can take you out of the chair in less than a minute.

All Christians in authority swear by the bible. But have you fulfilled everything you pledged. I want you also to know that the voice of the people is a voice of God. Therefore repent all Ugandan if you want peace to prevail in our land.

Time has come for the drought to haunt us. Watch so that you do not rebel against God. I want you to know that God does not pleasure in our death but rather wants us to live. If you do what the lord rerquires the lord will bless you. God forgives everybody who comes to repentance. A word to a wise is enough.

Live Mabira forest to God who planted it. He alone has authority over it. God has a reason why he planted. Whoever is fighting for Mabira is deceiving one self, only God will decide over this issue. I request those who are fighting for Mabira to abandon the fight and do other things.

Woman accuses Universal Kingdom of God Church of extortion

Thursday, April 26, 2007

A WOMAN who offered her car to a local church as a sacrifice for “good health” has threatened to take her pastors to court for alleged extortion.

Ms Frances Adroa, a self-confessed Aids patient, says senior pastors at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG), a Kampala church which she joined in June 2005, obtained possession of her car by pretending that they would reverse her health status if she invested in sacrifice.

In an affidavit she swore before the Chief Magistrate’s Court of Buganda Road, Ms Adroa said the pastors took advantage of “my distress”.
She claimed the car, Reg No. UCQ 676, was handed over to the church’s leadership on July 11, 2005, less than a month after a pastor, Patrick Maselela, had persuaded her to give it up.

“I Frances Adroa …do solemnly declare that with the full knowledge of my distress and broken heartedness, the pastors launched the campaign of Mount Sinai to which all members were required to give sacrifices and write prayer requests to God, which they claimed would be taken to Mount Sinai,” the April 10 affidavit says.

“That to further coerce me to give, they showed us a documentary of their worldwide leadership on Mount Sinai [in Israel] performing rituals similar to what they had promised us.”

Yesterday, at a Wandegeya garage where the church’s leadership was to officially hand over the car to the claimant, Ms Adroa pointed to a battered car parked in line with others of its kind-crashed saloon vehicles that looked like relics from the past.
Although the handover did not happen, as the UCKG pastors never showed up, she spoke bitterly of how she had been taken for a fool.

It was still unclear how the car had been crashed in the front, but Ms Adroa and Mr Solomon Male, a Kampala pastor who acts as her adviser, said they did not rule out malice.

Documents seen by this reporter show that when Ms Adroa tried to get back her car mid last year, after her illness intensified, she was told by her pastors that she had no valid claim on it.

However, she was later given one condition. “The UCKG has nothing against giving you back your car, which you voluntarily gave as an offering to the church, since you are now claiming it back,” UCKG’s letter to Ms Adroa said. “However, note that the church has incurred a lot of expenses in trying to bring the car into good condition as it now is.”
The letter, signed by Pastor Gerald Nyaki, said she would need to pay Shs2 million, a sum that had allegedly been invested in reconditioning the vehicle.

In a separate affidavit the church signed before the commissioner of oaths, Mr Nyaki said Ms Adroa had willingly signed documents transferring ownership of the vehicle, a claim not denied by Ms Adroa.

Mr Male, a tenacious cleric known for his controversial exposés on vices in the Church, said Ms Adroa had been “persuasively coerced” at “her hour of need”. Ms Adroa said she has not lost faith in the church “because there are a few bad guys messing up God’s name”.
Efforts to reach UCKG pastors were futile.

Benny Hinn: Healer or Hypnotist?

Benny Hinn: Healer or Hypnotist?
Joe Nickel

Benny Hinn tours the world with his "Miracle Crusade," drawing thousands to each service, with many hoping for a healing of body, mind, or spirit. A significant number seem rewarded and are brought onstage to pour out tearful testimonials. Then, seemingly by the Holy Spirit, they are knocked down at a mere touch or gesture from the charismatic evangelist. Although I had seen clips of Hinn's services on television, I decided to attend and witness his performance live when his crusade came to Buffalo, New York, last June 28-29. Donning a suitable garb and sporting a cane (left over from a 1997 accident in Spain), I limped into my seat at the HSBC Arena, downtown.

Learning the Ropes

Benny Hinn was born in 1953, the son of an Armenian mother and Greek father. He grew up in Jaffa, Israel, "in a Greek Orthodox home" but was "taught by nuns at a Catholic school" (Hinn 1999, 8). Following the Six-Day War in 1967, he emigrated to Canada with his family. When he was nineteen he became a born-again Christian. Nearly two years later, in December 1973, he traveled by charter bus from Toronto to Pittsburgh to attend a "miracle service" by Pentecostal faith-healing evangelist Kathryn Kuhlman (1907-1976). At that service he had a profound religious experience, and that very night he was pulled from bed and "began to shake and vibrate all over" with the Holy Spirit (Hinn 1999, 8-14).
Before long Hinn began to conduct services sponsored by the Kathryn Kuhlman Foundation. Kuhlman died before Hinn could meet her personally but her influence on him was profound, as he acknowledged in a book, Kathryn Kuhlman: Her Spiritual Legacy and Its Impact on My Life (Hinn 1999). Eventually he began preaching elsewhere, including the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Orchard Park, New York (near Buffalo) and later at a church in Orlando, Florida. By 1990 he was receiving national prominence from his book Good Morning, Holy Spirit, and in 1999 he moved his ministry headquarters to Dallas.

Lacking any biblical or other theological training, Hinn was soon criticized by other Christian ministries. One, Personal Freedom Outreach, labeled his teachings a "theological quagmire emanating from biblical misinterpretation and extra-biblical 'revelation knowledge.'" He admitted to Christianity Today magazine that he had erred theologically and vowed to make changes (Frame 1991), but he has continued to remain controversial. Nevertheless, according to a minister friend, "Outside of the Billy Graham crusade, he probably draws the largest crowd of any evangelist in America today" (Condren 2001).

Hinn's mentor, Kathryn Kuhlman, who performed in flowing white garments trimmed with gold (Spraggett 1971, 16), was apparently the inspiration for Hinn's trademark white suits and gold jewelry. From her he obviously learned the clever "shotgun" technique of faith-healing (also practiced by Pat Robertson and others). This involves announcing to an audience that certain healings are taking place, without specifying just who is being favored (Randi 1987, 228-229).

Selection Process

In employing this technique, Hinn first sets the stage with mood music, leading the audience (as did Kuhlman) in a gentle rendering of

He touched me, oh, He touched me,
And, oh, the joy that filled my soul!
Something happened and now I know
He touched me, and made me whole. . . .

Spraggett (1971, 17) says that with Kuhlman, as it was sung over and over, it became "a chant, an incantation, hypnotic in its effect," and the same is true of Hinn's approach.

In time, the evangelist announces that miracles are taking place. At the service I attended, he declared that someone was being "healed of witchcraft"; others were having the "demon of suicide" driven out; still others were being cured of cancer. He named various diseases and conditions that were supposedly being alleviated and mentioned different areas of the anatomy-a back, a leg, etc.-that he claimed were being healed. He even stated that he need not name every disease or body part, that God's power was effecting a multitude of cures all over the arena.

Thus, instead of the afflicted being invited up to be healed (with no guarantee of success), the "shotgun" method encourages receptive, emotional individuals to believe they are healed. Only that self-selected group is invited to come forward and testify to their supposedly miraculous transformation. While I remained seated (seeing no investigative purpose to making a false testimonial), others are more tragically left behind. At one Hinn service a woman - hearing the evangelist's anonymously directed command to "stand up out of that wheelchair!" - struggled to do so for almost half an hour before finally sinking back, exhausted (Thomas 2001).

There is even a further step in the selection process: Of those who do make it down the aisles, only a very few will actually be invited on stage. They must first undergo what amounts to an audition for the privilege. Those who tell the most interesting stories and show the greatest enthusiasm are the ones likely to be chosen (Underdown 2001).

This selection process is - perhaps not surprisingly - virtually identical to that employed by professional stage hypnotists. According to Robert A. Baker, in his definitive book, They Call It Hypnosis (1990, 138-139):

Stage hypnotists, like successful trial lawyers, have long known their most important task is to carefully pick their subjects-for the stage as for a jury-if they expect to win. Compliance is highly desirable, and to determine this ahead of time, the stage magician will usually give several test suggestions to those who volunteer to come up on the stage. Typically, he may ask the volunteers to clasp their hands together tightly and then suggest that the hands are stuck together so that they can't pull them apart. The stage hypnotist selects the candidates who go along with the suggestion and cannot get their hands apart until he tells them, "Now, it's okay to relax and separate them." If he has too many candidates from the first test, he may then give them a second test by suggesting they cannot open their mouths, move a limb, or open their eyes after closing them. Those volunteers who fail one or more of the tests are sent back to their seats, and those who pass all the tests are kept for the demonstration. Needless to say, not only are they compliant, cooperative, and suggestible, but most have already made up their minds in volunteering to help out and do exactly as they are told.

Once on stage, one of Hinn's screeners announces each "healed" person in turn, giving a quick summary of the alleged miracle. At the service I attended, one woman put on a show of jumping up and down to demonstrate that she was free of pain following knee surgery three weeks before. Another was cured of "depression," caused by "the demon," said a screener, that resulted from "an abusive relationship with her husband." Still another (who admitted to being "an emotional person") said her sister-in-law sitting beside her had begun to "speak in tongues" and that she herself felt she was healed of various ailments, including high blood pressure and marital trouble. At her mention of her brother, Hinn brought him up and learned he had been healed of "sixteen demons" two years previously, and expected to be cured of diabetes; Hinn prayed for God to "set him free" of the disease. Another was supposedly cured of being "afraid of the Lord" (although he was carrying the bible of a friend who had died of AIDS), and one woman stated she believed she had just been cured of ovarian cancer.

In each instance-after the person has given a little performance (running about, offering a sobbing testimonial, etc.), and Hinn has responded with some mini-sermon, prayer, or other reaction-the next step in the role-playing is acted out. As one of his official catchers moves into place behind the person, Hinn gives a gesture, touch, or other signal. Most often, while squeezing the person's face between thumb and finger, he gives a little push, and down the compliant individual goes. Some slump; some stiffen and fall backward; a few reel. Once down, many lie as if entranced, while others writhe and seem almost possessed.

Along with speaking or praying in tongues (glossolalia) and other emotional expressions, this phenomenon of "going under the Power" is a characteristic of the modern charismatic movement (after the Greek charisma, "gift"). Also known as being "slain in the Spirit," it is often regarded skeptically even by other Christians who suspect-correctly-that the individuals involved are merely "predisposed to fall" (Benny Hinn: Pros & Cons 2002). That is, they merely engage in a form of role-playing that is prompted by their strong desire to receive divine power as well as by the influence of suggestion that they do so. Even the less emotionally suggestible people will be unwilling not to comply when those around them expect it.

In short, they behave just as if "hypnotized." Although popularly believed to involve a mystical "trance" state, hypnosis is in fact just compliant behavior in response to suggestions (Baker 1990, 286). One professional hypnotist said of Hinn's performance: "This is something we do every day and Mr. Hinn is a real professional" (Thomas 2001).

But what about the healings? Do faith-healers like Benny Hinn really help nudge God to work miracle cures? In fact, such claims are invariably based on negative evidence-"we don't know what caused the illness to abate, so it must have been supernatural"-and so represent the logical fallacy called "arguing from ignorance." In fact, as I explained to a reporter from The Buffalo News following a Benny Hinn service, people may feel they are healed due to several factors. In addition to the body's own natural healing mechanisms, there is the fact that some serious ailments, including certain types of cancer, are unpredictable and may undergo "spontaneous remission"-that is, may abate for a time or go away entirely. Other factors include even misdiagnosis (such as that of a supposedly "inoperable, malignant brain-stem tumor" that was actually due to a faulty CT scan [Randi 1987, 291-292]).
And then there are the powerful effects of suggestion. Not only psychosomatic illnesses (of which there is an impressive variety) but also those with distinct physical causes may respond to a greater or lesser degree to "mental medicine." Pain is especially responsive to suggestion. In the excitement of an evangelical revival, the reduction of pain due to the release of endorphins (pain-killing substances produced by the body) often causes people to believe and act as if they have been miraculously healed (Condren 2001; Nickell 1993; Nolen 1974).

Critical studies are illuminating. Dr. William A. Nolen, in his book Healing: A Doctor in Search of a Miracle (1974), followed up on several reported cases of healing from a Kathryn Kuhlman service but found no miracles-only remissions, psychosomatic diseases, and other explanations, including the power of suggestion.

More recently a study was conducted following a Benny Hinn crusade in Portland, Oregon, where seventy-six miracles were alleged. For an HBO television special, A Question of Miracles (Thomas 2001), Benny Hinn Ministries was asked to supply the names of as many of these as possible for investigation. After thirteen weeks, just five names were provided. Each case was followed for one year.

The first involved a grandmother who stated she had had "seven broken vertebras" but that the Lord had healed her at the evening service in Portland. In fact, x-rays afterward revealed otherwise, although the woman felt her pain had lessened.

The second case was that of a man who had suffered a logging accident ten years previously. He demonstrated improved mobility at the crusade, but his condition afterward deteriorated and "movement became so painful he could no longer dress himself." Yet he remained convinced he was healed and refused the medication and surgery his doctors insisted was necessary.

The next individual was a lady who, for fifty years, had only "thirty percent of her hearing" as claimed at the Portland crusade. However, her physician stated, "I do not think this was a miracle in any sense." He reported that the woman had had only a "very mild hearing loss" just two years before and that she had made "a normal recovery."

The fourth case was that of a girl who had not been "getting enough oxygen" but who claimed to have been healed at Hinn's service. In fact, since the crusade she "continued to suffer breathlessness," yet her mother was so convinced that a miracle had occurred that she did not continue to have her daughter seek medical care.

Finally, there was what the crusade billed as "a walking dead woman." She had had cancer throughout both lungs, but her doctors were now "overwhelmed" that she was "still alive and still breathing." Actually, her oncologist rejected all such claims, saying the woman had an "unpredictable form of cancer that was stable at the time of the crusade." Tragically, her condition subsequently deteriorated and she died just nine months afterward.

What Harm?

As these cases demonstrate, there is a danger that people who believe themselves cured will forsake medical assistance that could bring them relief or even save their lives. Dr. Nolen (1974, 97-99) relates the tragic case of Mrs. Helen Sullivan who suffered from cancer that had spread to her vertebrae. Kathryn Kuhlman had her get out of her wheelchair, remove her back brace, and run across the stage repeatedly. The crowd applauded what they thought was a miracle, but the antics cost Mrs. Sullivan a collapsed vertebra. Four months after her "cure," she died.
Nolen (1974, 101) stated he did not think Miss Kuhlman a deliberate charlatan. She was, he said, ignorant of diseases and the effects of suggestion. But he suspected she had "trained herself to deny, emotionally and intellectually, anything that might threaten the validity of her ministry." The same may apply to Benny Hinn. One expert in mental states, Michael A. Persinger, a neuroscientist, suggests people like Hinn have fantasy-prone personalities (Thomas 2001). Indeed, the backgrounds of both Kuhlman and Hinn reveal many traits associated with fantasy-proneness, but it must be noted that being fantasy prone does not preclude also being deceptive and manipulative.

Hinn notes that only rarely does he lay hands on someone for healing, but he made an exception for one child whose case was being filmed for the HBO documentary. The boy was blind and dying from a brain tumor. "The Lord's going to touch you," Hinn promised. The child's parents believed and, although not wealthy, pledged $100 per month to the Benny Hinn Ministries. Subsequently, however, the child died.

Critics, like the Rev. Joseph C. Hough, President of New York's Union Theological Seminary, say of the desperately hopeful: "It breaks your heart to know that they are being deceived, because they genuinely are hoping and believing. And they'll leave there thinking that if they didn't get a miracle it's because they didn't believe." More pointedly, Rabbi Harold S. Kushner stated on A Question of Miracles (Thomas 2001):

I hope there is a special place in Hell for people who try and enrich themselves on the suffering of others. To tantalize the blind, the lame, the dying, the afflicted, the terminally ill, to dangle hope before parents of a severely afflicted child, is an indescribably cruel thing to do, and to do it in the name of God, to do it in the name of religion, I think, is unforgivable.

I am grateful to George E. Abaunza, Professor of Philosophy at Felician College in Lodi, N.J., for sending me a copy of the video A Question of Miracles. I also appreciate the input of Jim Underdown and other members of the Center for Inquiry-West's Independent Investigations Group who attended a Benny Hinn Miracle Crusade in Anaheim, California, August 17, 2001. Thanks are also due to Tim Binga for research assistance, Ranjit Sandhu for typing the manuscript, and Robert A. Baker for reading it.

Huge choir for Benny Hinn Kampala crusade

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

VISITING televangelist and controversial “miracle healer” Benny Hinn is expected to raise the biggest crowds at any single event this year and perhaps even set a record for all time.

Organisers say they expect to host up to 300,000 people during the two-day meet at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. “These are conservative estimates,” Isaac Rucci, the Production Coordinator for the event set for May 18-19 said. “ When he visited Nairobi, Pastor Hinn attracted a crowd of 1 million people at Uhuru Park and another million lingering in the vicinity.”

LARGER THAN LIFE: Benny Hinn. Net photo
Uganda’s born again Christians have in the past filled up Namboole’s stadium to an estimated 100,000 people, counting those who hung outside the packed venue. This time round, Benny Hinn, one of the most watched preachers of his generation, organiser’s say will shame them all.

One of the attractions at the Benny Hinn crusade will be a 5000-member choir contributed by various churches, another record for the number of Ugandans singing in the same group.

The crusade will also use 1,000 ushers and millions of dollars in production equipment. “ We have contracted five different companies to work on the production because no single company in the region can handle a concert this size,” Mr Rucci said. Indeed for Benny Hinn, big is simply the way business is done.

The controversial healer projects a larger than life image in his television shows and appearances at crusades, a trait that has been roundly condemned by his critics.
For his Uganda visit, Benny Hinn will be travelling in a private jet, accompanied by a large entourage of over 100 aides and a 10-man security detail, according to sources close to the event.

An advance security team has already visited the country to map out his itinerary complete with an evacuation plan. The team was apparently delighted that Kampala Serena Hotel has a helipad and reportedly demanded one in Namboole stadium. An armoured car will be on standby for his ground travel but it is likely he will fly to and from Entebbe Airport and possibly to Namboole as well.

According to Mr Rucci, massive events like Benny Hinn crusades cost a lot of money but it is not clear what the exact amount will be. “ It’s certainly in millions of dollars. The saying in the church is that the gospel is free but it takes money to make it happen,” he said.

Mr Rucci, himself a member of the former gospel sensation Limit X, says part of the cost is the “feature film quality” that is gleaned from the event. The crusades are then showed to a global audience on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) where Benny Hinn’s show “This is Your Day” airs every day.

“People will be blessed,” Mr Rucci said. Pastor Benny Hinn’s miracle crusades, TV show and lifestyle have for long been a cause of concern for Christian groups.
Two years ago, American Television reported that there were no medical reports to show that the miracles that the pastor performs were real.

Benny Hinn’s lifestyle has, however, been the most criticised. The pastor reportedly lives on a church allowance of over $10 million (about Shs17 billion) a year and sometimes spends up to $3,000 (about Shs5 million) a night at hotels during his crusades. His Ministry reportedly wants to buy him a new Gulf Stream jet, G4SP (the same that President Yoweri Museveni currently uses) at an estimated $36 million (about Shs63 billion).

While in Uganda, Benny Hinn will be the guest of Light House Television but powerful patrons like First Lady Janet Museveni are already working on the pastor’s visit. Odrek Rwabwogo, President Museveni’s son-in-law, met with the advance team and is reportedly arranging a private audience between the pastor and the First Family.

Is the Pentecostal revival in Uganda really genuine?

Daily Monitor, Friday, April 20, 2007

Is the Pentecostal revival in Uganda really genuine?

BOTH local and international preachers have applauded the Pentecostal revival in Uganda. However, a close scrutiny of the facts on the ground reveals the opposite. Many born again Christians in Uganda like the Catholics and Anglicans have allowed other people to read the Bible for them. No wonder the pastors and the sheep are deceiving and being deceived because of the failure to rightly divide the word of God.

Although the word of God categorically states that “Love the Lord your God with all your thy heart , and with all thy soul and with all thy mind”’ (Mathew 22:37), many so called born again Christians have allowed their hearts to be on fire for God but their souls and minds to be on cool cool bar.

Many born again pastors do not even know the history of the Bible, they do not know that some Bibles have missing verses, they are using fear to extort tithes and offerings from their unquestioning flock. The list of the deceptions in Pentecostalism is endless.
In a couple of weeks from now the poor unsuspecting, uncritical ‘Pentecostals’ are going to flock Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar’s crusades to commit spiritual and political fornication.

Well, you can rely on your emotionalism and experientialism, instead of the word of God. However, there is no doubt that you will be deceived. Rest assured that you will not reap prosperity and healing from the crusades, but rather deception. Watch that nobody deceives you (Mathew 24:4).

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee(Hosea 4:6)

My people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge(Isaiah 5:13)

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is not great thing if his ministers also be transformed as ministers of righteousness(2 Corinthians 4:14-15)

BELOVED, believe not every spirit but try the spirits whether they are from God because many false prophets are gone out into the world(1 John 4:4)

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.(Ephesians 5:15)

But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.(Revelation 2:24)

Dear saints I have been shocked after watching a video by the so called sons of thunder ministry .I’m glad that the Lord Jesus Christ has exposed these luciferians and the fact that we live in very dark days where we have to WATCH ALL THE TIME, AND TEST SPIRITS ALL THE TIME.I have written to quite a number of people in Uganda about the spiritual frauds on TBN such as; Benny Hinn and Creflo Dollar. These People always get annoyed because they can not defend themselves with the word of God and because they cannot handle the truth that we live in such an incredible deception.

Son of Thunder Seers

After watching the video by the SONS OF THUNDER you will appreciate the need to be discerning all the time. These SONS OF THE DEVIL have preached in Uganda in both the city and the rural country side. They even claim to have gone to Gulu to help orphans. When you visit their websites you find satanic signs, obsession with the spirit world and dominionism. They are influenced by Apostate Rick Joyner who is a catholic, Masonic, New world order pimp as evidenced by the articles below. In the video below these serpents preach about HEALINGS and CASTING OUT DEMONS.They are silent about REPENTANCE AND HOLINESS????

We should not goatishly go to any crusade or prayer meeting because many false prophets have gone out into the world. I 2005 I went to a crusade that was organized by Pastor Kiganda among other Pentecostal leaders. Well, this crusade was hosting a Manmin cult preacher from Korea. When I did some research on this charismatic cult, I was shocked. I discovered that this cult had already been exposed in Korea. It has been involved in many scandals. I learned my lesson. See links about this cult.

False teachings of Lee Jae-Rock & the Manmin cult

According to their website, the sons of Thunder are coming to Uganda in September 2007 for what they call an evangelism campaign. The saints of the lord Jesus Christ should SHUN these new world order vipers. Please warn the saints of Jesus in your church. The word of God says categorically that we are taken to captivity because of lack of knowledge. Any body who thought that deception in the church is a farce should think twice.

Heavenly encounters, open visions and visitation with the Lord, angels and saints are all available to us as we learn to engage the paradigm of the spirit realm. Heaven is invading earth in this hour - revelatory experiences are being offered to synchronize with kingdom mandates.

CHECK Lucifer’s all seeing EYE

The chief purpose of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. We believe man is to seek first the kingdom of God, foremost by dwelling and walking in His presence..... We recognize our interdependence upon the entire mystical body of Christ, of which we are only one small part; and we acknowledge that we are incomplete without unity….. We seek to promote sound doctrine, but recognize that division is not God’s preferred alternative to adversity or doctrinal dispute. We choose to extend liberty in all "non-essential" doctrinal matters.

I grew up amid a Bible Belt Pentecostal background and chose to embrace God when I was 8 years old. I was eventually turned off by the forms and legalism of religion. My deliverance was sudden. I was in a bar on an acid trip one night, when instantly my eyes were opened to the spiritual realm. Of course, under such circumstances, I was only aware of the demonic activity around me, and it freaked me out. I somehow knew what people were thinking before they spoke, and I knew things that were about to happen before they occurred. The enemy began to trigger into the prophetic call that he saw on my life, and I was gripped with fear. Suddenly, I knew beyond a doubt that I was going to die that night (and in a way, I did).

My parents were Jesus Movement hippies when I was born in Paia, Maui. My father lived in a commune, and my mother would invite hitchhikers to come home and live with her. I always felt a call of God on my life and remember writing worship songs from the age of 5. When I was six, the famous hippie evangelist Lonnie Frisbee (who helped to start both the Calvary Chapel and Vineyard movements) was speaking at our church, which doubled as a Christian commune. That was when I responded to give my life to the Lord. Later, at the age of 15, Lonnie was at a home group meeting I attended. I remember him calling me out specifically with a word of knowledge and I was baptized with the Holy Spirit. I fell to the floor shaking. I was the only one in the room that this happened to, and I didn’t know what hit me. I had never been around this type of thing in my teenage years. I was not expecting it, and I remember crying a lot. When the power of God hits you, you don’t care about anything else in that moment.

Prof. Walter Veith exposes Benny Hinn, Copeland , TBN –Freemasonry(Jesuits) Rome Connection

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.(Ephesians 5:15-16)

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.(Acts17:11)

Professor Walter Veith obtained his doctorate in zoology from the University of Cape Town in 1979. He is one of few scientists who believes that the theory of evolution does not provide a plausible explanation of our origins, nor does the geological and pale ontological data support evolution over long periods of time, but rather implies Catastrophism which is consistent with the Genesis account. He lectures internationally on this topic and has undertaken extensive tours to Europe, Africa and North America.

Professor Veith has written a number of books on the above topics, and is a world-renowned speaker and scientist. His book, Diet and Health, (in which latest insights including his own research are presented) is published by the prestigious scientific publisher: Stuttgart Scientific Publishers (Stuttgart Wissenschaftlicher Verlag), which publishes books for the medical profession and the pharmaceutical industry and is available on the world-wide market.

In addition, Professor Veith has written two other books: Genesis Conflict -an eye-opening study of the evolutionary theory and the evidences of creation found in the natural world and genetics. An excellent companion to Dr. Veith's evolution series; also Truth Matters - Escaping the Labyrinth of Error - a detailed study presenting Biblical answers to doctrinal questions such as, Was Jesus the Messiah?, Where do the dead go when they die? How will this world end?, and includes a discussion of the prophecies of the Bible and their interpretation. A book of over 400 pages, Truth Matters provides an authoritative study on the subjects presented by Professor Veith during his Bible seminars.

When we asked how he became a Christian, he said:
Walter Vieth: ‘It’s a long story, but I was an evolutionist, and an atheist. I started to get interested in the subject of Biblical prophecy—for example, prophecies in the book of Daniel, chapter two. They were written long before the events portrayed there, and the kingdoms came in succession just as it says. And the Dead Sea Scrolls seemed to confirm the authenticity and antiquity of the Book of Daniel. So I started to get interested in the rest of Scripture, including Genesis.’

WARNING !!!!!!

Despite the many true expositions by Prof. Walter Veith , he has a seventh day flawed conception of Hell. That is why the saints of the Lord Jesus Christ must be discerning all the time. We should not put our trust in Pastors and Professors , but only and only the Lord Jesus Christ. As you watch this videos you will discover that he defends the KJV but at the same time questions for instance the comma in Luke 23:43. Many people in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches have been taken for a ride because of lack of discernment. WE MUST ALWAYS WATCH THAT NO BODY DECEIVES US. Viper Ugandan Pastor Exposed

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived(2 Timothy 3:13)

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.(Mathew 23:27-28)

In a letter that appeared in Bukedde on Monday April 16th 2007, one Pastor Gideon Mubiru defended Pastor Kayanja’s false prophesies, as follows;

MU butuufu Omusumba Robert Kayanja musajja wa Katonda.

Mu kampeyini z’okunoonya obululu bwa Pulezidenti mu 2006 yalagula nti waliwo omu ku beesimbyewo agenda okufa.

Ffe Abalokole twategeera butegeezi nti Katonda yayogedde ne twegayirira Katonda ne tumusaba kireme kuba mu nsi yaffe waakiri kibeere mu nsi endala.

Ekintu kino kyatuukiridde mu Nigeria omu ku beesimbyewo bwe yakutuse n’afa ng’ebula mbale okulonda kubeewo.

N’olwekyo njagala okubategeeza nti Omusumba Kayanja ayogera ne Katonda era byayogera bituukirira.

Omusumba Gideon Mubiru, Kampala

Kayanja bye yalagula bituukiridde

English Translation of the article

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.(John 8:44)

What Kayanja prophesied has come to pass

Truly speaking Pastor Robert Kayanja is a man of God. In the 2006 Presidential campaigns he prophesised that one of the presidential aspirants was going to give up the ghost(die). We born again saints humbled ourselves before the lord in prayer, so that God does not bring such a thing to our country. We prayed that this thing(death of presidential candidate) should at least happen in another country.

This thing came to pass in the Nigerian presidential election , when one of the presidential aspirants gave up the ghost(died) a few days to the polls(election). Therefore, I want to tell you that Pastor Kayanja speaks with God and whatever he prophesies comes to pass. Pastor Gideon Mubiru, Kampala

My analysis

I’m glad that the Lord Jesus Christ is exposing the serpent pastors like Gideon Mubiru. These apostate, purpose driven and prosperity infested vipers have turned the truth of God into a lie. Pastor Mubiru argues that Kayanja’s prophecy that one of the 2006 presidential aspirants would give up the ghost came to pass because one of the presidential candidates in the Nigeria April 2007 election gave up the ghost a few days to the polls. What a flawed logic!!!!!!

Did Pastor Kayanja Prophesy about Nigeria or Uganda???? Pastor Mubiru you are of your father the devil who was a liar from the beginning and abode not in the truth because there is no truth in him. (John 8:44), you profess to be wise but you have become a fool(Roman 1:22) . The Lord Jesus Christ has already exposed that Pastor Kayanja is a liar like Benny Hinn. This is irrefutable evidence. There is nothing you can do about it, just repent of your political fornication and apostasy before it is too late. Remember, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth(Luke 13:28).

Below are further expositions of Apostate Gideon Mubiru in the other articles he has authored.

Pastor Gideon Mubiru,

English translation

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables(2 Timothy 4:4)

It is a mistake for born again Christians to reject Prophet Kakande

I want to advise the so called leaders of the Pentecostal church in Uganda under the chairmanship of Pastor Alex Mitala that your rejection of the man of God prophet Kakande is not right. The bible says judge not. That why I ask Pastor Alex Mitala where he got the power and authority to dismiss Kakande. You go around telling people that those who go to Kakande’s church go their on their own.

When these people where getting saved , are you the one who chose for them the churches they should pray from. Why then, do you prevent them from going to Kakande’s church. It is not Jesus who started that Pentecostal organization of yours, therefore you have your own agenda.

Remember that what you are doing will not only affect Kakande but also all born again Christians because they did not now what you are talking about . It is possible that you are equally guilty of the things you accuse Kakande. Mind your business after all you also not righteous.

Pastor Gideon Mubiru,

My Comments

Omusumba Gideon Mubiru,

English Translation

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.(1 Timothy 6:5)

Imelda Namutebi is the wealthiest

I want to assure Ugandans that Pastor Namutebi Kula of liberty worship centre is the wealthiest and wisest of all women. Many women in Uganda brag of being wealthy, but I tell you, none is wealthier than this pastor. The good thing, Namutebi has used her wealth to serve God, she is not like the women of the world who use their money to enjoy themselves.

Pastor Namutebi is now competing with many wealth men in Kampala. Her house is better than the one of tycoon Wavamuno! Her vehicle is better than the one of tycoon Babirye. If there was a competition to establish whether born again Christians are wealthier than the unsaved, we would be represented by Namutebi. She would show you what she is money wise.

Recently she gave away a lexus and prado; just tell me one woman who has ever given way a vehicle. About two years back she organized a historical wedding, which we will take long to forget. Whoever came to the wedding drunk, ate and pushed the food with his/her feet. She built a mega seater church in Lugala. I request the women to emulate Namutebi by putting their money in the work of God. Pastor Gideon Mubiru, Kampala

Can you imagine this prosperity serpent being your pastor! Many pastors have been infested with the prosperity and dominion venom from hell, and I think saints can discern how far this can lead someone. He wants women to put money in apostate churches so that they are made merchant of. How foolish! See deception in the Ugandan Church using the link below.

Omusumba Gideon Mubiru, Kampala

English Translation

They are not there

Brethren, Pastor Kiganda should stop confusing people that the lord told him to clean his house. He alleges that the lord sent him to get rid of all false prophets. But who is a false prophet? There is no false servant of God on earth who uses God’s name.

It does not matter whether a pastor uses water or anointing oil as longer as long as he is using the name of Jesus, he is right. May be Pastor Kiganda reads the scriptures upside down. Pastor Gideon Mubiru, Kampala

Which Jesus is this serpent talking about. Catholics use the name of Jesus, Mormons use the name of Jesus , Jehovah’s witnesses use the name of Jesus, even believers in Christian science So, can we say that Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah’s witnesses, and Christian science followers are right because they use the name Jesus. Remember even the Moslems have their Koran Jesus.

Nze ndaba nti abawakanya ekisanja mmwe batume ba Sitaani bennyini.

Gideon Mubiru

English Translation

Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?(Mathew 23:33)

Those opposing the third term for Museveni are of the devil

Brethren a person who is knowledgeable about where Uganda has come from and where it has reached so far should not oppose a third term for Museveni. I think God gave us President Museveni as a gift that will bring peace in Uganda.

Museveni is the Jesus of these days. You who is nothing, how dare do you stand to oppose the apostle of God, that he should quit. Are you the one who brought him. According to me, those who oppose the third term are the real servants of the devil.

Gideon Mubiru

Vipers and fools like Pastor Mubiru are guilty of political fornication with the state. They think that they can use politicians to bring about peace. The bible says cursed be the man that trusteth in man(Jeremiah 17:5). Our object of trust is only and only the Lord Jesus Christ. How dare do you deify a president pastor Mubiru, shame upon you and woe to you. Repent before it is too late.

Uganda's Rotten Prosperity Movement, Very Unchristian

Born again saints should separate from all vipers like Mubiru. I think many of these serpents are not even born again. They are simply being used by the state and the devil in particular to deceive people. They are being used by the devil to ridicule the born again saints. In fact many people in Uganda hate born again saints because of such liars. Imagine a pastor comparing a mere president to our lord Jesus Christ. This is blasphemy of the highest order . Below are more articles that expose the spiritual confusion behind this whore pastor. I’m so shocked that we have such wolves in our midst. However be of good cheer because the Lord Jesus Christ overcame the world.
