The force seeks the help of the International Police to help arrest a sports manager who allegedly sodomizes young boys.
KAMPALA
The Uganda Police have written to the
International Police (Interpol) to arrest a sports manager, Mr Chris
Mubiru, whose photographs appeared in a local tabloid, allegedly having
sexual intercourse with different youths.
Police have opened a general inquiry file and want
Mr Mubiru, who the government claim has left the country, to report to
their officers for interrogation.
The Uganda Media Centre executive director, Mr
Fred Opolot, said in a press statement yesterday that the videos
obtained by the police seem to suggest that Mr Mubiru is luring minors
into sexual harassment.
“In this regard, Uganda Police has sent out a
request to Interpol to arrest Mr Mubiru wherever he has escaped to and
hand him over to Uganda Police for further interrogation,” Mr Opolot
said.
Since the photographs of the sports manager having intercourse with youth appeared in the papers, many people have condemned the act.

It is not yet established where Mr Mubiru
allegedly carried out the sexual acts. Some of the photographs appear to
be acts of sodomy, which is a crime in the country.
Mr Opolot said they have confirmed that Mr Mubiru
left the country on Saturday aboard a Turkish Airways plane number 606
and “he is believed to have headed to either USA or Canada”. “Government
is therefore appealing to the public who have empirical evidence
regarding these heinous acts by a one Chris Mubiru and others to report
to the Police,” he said.
