The Government is to investigate the mysterious murders and kidnappings that have been happening in different parts of the country, the Prime Minister has assured MPs.

Amama Mbabazi’s statement was in response to a question raised by Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the leader of the opposition in Parliament, and other MPs on rising cases of murders. Mafabi said the Police and security operatives had failed to apprehend the culprits.

Raphael Magyezi said “vampires” had killed over 10 people in his constituency and no explanations had been given about the phenomenon.

Mbabazi said: “It is true a number of people have been murdered. These have not been limited to only prominent people but also others from all walks of life. The Government is committed to the rule of law.”

BUIKWE - The dreaded demons manifested in escalating cases of ritual sacrifice hit Buikwe on Tuesday when the headless and dismembered torso of a student was discovered in a sugarcane plantation.

Moses Lukamya, 15, a primary five pupil of Kasoga P/S vanished from his home at Kabula in Najjembe Sub County, Buikwe district on Saturday when his parents sent him to the shops in Kawuku trading center to buy groceries, but never returned.

Lukamya was found beheaded, his right leg amputated, genitals severed and his rib cage gaping as the heart had been ripped out in a gut-wrenching act of inhumanity.

His speechless and shell-shocked parents, Mathias Kasibante and Rehema Namubiru, only identified the remains of their son from the shoe on the left leg and red shirt he had been wearing when he left home on Saturday.

Residents blamed the increasing cases of ritual sacrifice on the ever booming business of witchcraft which is manifested in the many shirnes that are scattered over the area.

Last week the headless body of a boy was discovered behind the kitchen of Mzee Jonah Nsindabizire at Kakakala village in Nabbaale Sub County, Mukono district.

The grieving mother Namubiru, who is still breastfeeding her last born, said Police negligence in dealing with the escalating numbers of witchdoctors in the area is the cause of her demise.
Angry residents had blocked the Police from taking the boy’s remains for postmortem asking them what they thought they would find out.

It was however the intervention of the LCI chairman, Willy Kiwanuka, that saved the day when he convinced them they would work together with the Police to bring the culprits to book.
