John Hagee: His False and Demonic Teachings Concerning Israel! (A Wake-Up Call For Deceived and Brainwashed Christians)

The 2014 C.U.F.I. (Christians United For Israel) Washington Summit is over, and here is an appropriate article for such a time as this.

 

There are certain preachers and teachers in the world today who  make statements sometimes, which I find to be simply mind boggling. John Hagee is most definitely one of those people. Here is an excerpt from the Christian Research Institute Statement DH005 regarding John Hagee.

 

Trying to convert Jews is a “waste of time,” he [Hagee] said. . . . Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced with Christianity, he says.

 

“The Jewish people have a relationship to God through the law of God as given through Moses,” Hagee said. “I believe that every Gentile person can only come to God through the cross of Christ. I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption.

 

“The law of Moses is sufficient enough to bring a person into the knowledge of God until God gives him a greater revelation. And God has not,” said Hagee

 

“There are right now Jewish people on this earth who have a powerful and special relationship with God,” declares Hagee in one of his books. “They have been chosen by the ‘election of grace’ in which God does what he does without asking man to approve or understand it. Let us put an end to the Christian chatter that “all the Jews are lost” and can’t be in the will of God until they convert to Christianity! . . . there are a certain number of Jews in relationship with God right now through divine election.”

 

Hagee also affirms: “If God blinded the Jewish people to the identity of Jesus as Messiah, how could He send them to hell for not seeing what he had forbidden them to see?”

 

What On Earth Is Going On Here?

It is incredible that more people do not speak out against the “ministries” of people such as John Hagee (and many others) and the false teachings that proceed forth from them. Any person who has been truly born again of the Spirit, and who is a new creation in Jesus Christ, and who reads their Bible, would have to say there is something drastically wrong with Hagee’s theology. When I read the new Testament (Covenant) I learn about Jesus Christ as being the fulfillment of ALL of the Old Testament prophecies. In fact the Bible tells us that God had previously spoke to us through the “father” and by the “prophets” but has spoken to us in “these last days” by His Son, Jesus Christ.

 

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:1-3)

 

Any true Bible believing, born again believer in Jesus Christ, knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ is absolutely the only way of salvation for every person in the world, whether they be Jew or Gentile. For John Hagee to make statements such as those quoted here from the Christian Research Institute Statement DH005 is in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Bible (God’s Word). Here is a statement from Jesus Christ Himself to the Jewish people of his day:

 

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which TESTIFY OF ME. And ye will not COME TO ME, that ye might have life. (John 5:39-40)

 

That statement by the Lord Jesus Christ to the Jewish people of His time still stands true today.The Lord was simply telling them that their own scriptures which included the books of Moses, the prophets and the Psalms testified about Him, and yet they refused to come to Him for LIFE. Jesus was talking about ETERNAL LIFE, and ultimately Heaven. That is the clear message of that verse, and it was and is the clear message that Christ spoke to the Jewish people of His time. Here is another statement from the Lord Jesus Christ to the Jewish people of His time:

 

I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to KILL ME, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to KILL ME, a man that hath told you the TRUTH, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would LOVE ME: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of  YOUR FATHER the DEVIL, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I TELL YOU the TRUTH, YE believe me NOT. (John 8:37-45)

 

Do not miss what is being said here folks, because this is a plain and simple rebuke to the modern day false dispensational teachers of our day.The Lord was in conversation with the religious Jewish leaders, and He told them that He was aware that they were of the lineage of Abraham. He then made it clear to them that He (Jesus) was following His Father (God the Father), and that they followed their own father. Jesus boldly told the Jewish religious leaders who REJECTED Him, that the Devil was their Father! Folks those are the words of Jesus Christ, the creator of ALL things (John 1:1-3) You will rarely hear a Preacher, Pastor or Ministry leader ever quote those words from the eighth chapter of John, out of pure fear of offending the Jewish people. Those words still stand true today for both the Jewish people who reject Christ, and the rest of mankind (Gentiles) who reject Him also. The Lord told the Jewish people that if God were their Father, then they would have LOVED HIM, because God was the very one who SENT HIM!  The Lord knew that the Jewish people prided themselves in the fact that they had Abraham as their Father, but they missed the whole thing when they rejected him (Jesus Christ), the one who was LORD even over Abraham! The Jewish people then and now, still claim Abraham as their Father, but the majority of them still REJECT Jesus Christ as their LORD and MESSIAH! The Lord dealt with that and He pulled no punches with them either.

 

Do Not Be Ashamed Of Jesus and His Words!

Are YOU ashamed of Jesus Christ, and the words which he spoke? If YOU are ashamed of Jesus Christ, and the words which he spoke, then HE will be ashamed of YOU when HE comes again with his angels! (Luke 9:25-26) Folks do not be fooled or manipulated by the compromising church leaders of today, who work hand in hand with many UNSAVED political people (Jewish and Gentile) from all over the world. The spiritual fraudsters of our day abound by the tens of thousands, and they are merely hirelings (hired hands), which Jesus warned us about. (John 10:12-13) They seek their own wealth, and they care not for your souls. A compromising pastor will lead you into the very same compromise that they are in.

 

John the Baptist also warned the Jewish religious people:

Then went out to him JERUSALEM, and all JUDAEA, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of VIPERS, who hath warned you to flee from the WRATH to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think NOT to say within yourselves, WE have ABRAHAM to OUR FATHER: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and CAST into the FIRE. (Matthew 3:5-10)

 

John the Baptist flat out told the Jewish religious crowd that they were snakes (vipers). He told them that they should not say within themselves that Abraham was their Father, because God could turn stones into children of Abraham if he so desired. The bottom line was that John was dealing with the Jewish people and their religious pride, because they came from the lineage of Abraham. Remember that salvation is by GRACE, not by RACE!

Lets take another look at John Hagee’s incredible statement:

 

“I believe that every Gentile person can only come to God through the cross of Christ. I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption.”

 

That statement by John Hagee is an absolute smack in the face of Jesus Christ and a betrayal of the Gospel itself.  Jesus Christ was slain on the cross for our sins, and it is only HIS BLOOD that will justify any human being on earth before Him. (Romans 5:6-10) Hagee has a DIFFERENT plan of salvation for the Jewish people who live in light of the Torah.  Jesus made it clear in the passage above (John 5:37-43) that the Torah testified about HIM, and yet they (the Jewish people) would not come to HIM for salvation!

 

And the Father himself, which hath SENT ME, hath borne witness of ME. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have NOT his WORD abiding in you: for WHOM he hath SENT, him ye believe NOT. Search the scriptures; for in them YE THINK ye have ETERNAL LIFE: and they are they which TESTIFY OF ME. And ye will NOT come to me, that YE might have LIFE. I receive not honour from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am COME in my Father’s name, and ye receive me NOT: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. (John 5:37-43)

 

You Are Either For Christ or Against Him!

The majority of Jewish people then, and now, do not believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, Messiah, Son of God or Saviour, and they do not believe that Christ (Messiah) has come in the flesh. According to Jesus Christ those same Jewish people “think that they have eternal life” but they do not! They are DECEIVED and on the road to Hell. They will most certainly “die in their sins” (John 8:24) IF they continue to reject Jesus Christ. They are not in COVENANT with God at all! The very purpose of Jesus Christ coming into this world was to save their souls, and the opportunity to get saved is still there, just like it is still there for any other person in the world. Millions of Christians have been brainwashed and put in bondage because they believe that they will be CURSED if they do not “bless Israel.” I choose to BELIEVE, and as a result I am BLESSED and SAVED in the person of Jesus Christ, whom the Father sent into the world! That is exactly what the Lord Jesus Christ desires of us all!

 

The Jewish apostle Paul was formerly a belligerent persecutor of Christians, and he consented to the death of many of them. After he got converted he preached SALVATION to his own Jewish people, and he made it clear that SALVATION was in Jesus Christ alone. That is what all TRUE Christians should be doing also. Paul knew that his fellow Jewish people were DECEIVED beyond words, and that they did not UNDERSTAND the PROPHECIES from the scriptures, which testified of Jesus Christ as Messiah!

 

Men and brethren, children of the stock of ABRAHAM, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the WORD of this SALVATION sent. For they that dwell at JERUSALEM, and their RULERS, because they KNEW HIM (JESUS) NOT, nor yet the voices of the PROPHETS which are read every SABBATH day, they have FULFILLED THEM in condemning HIM (JESUS). And though they found no cause of DEATH in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be SLAIN. And when they had FULFILLED ALL that was written of HIM (JESUS), they took him down from the tree (CROSS), and laid him in a sepulchre (GRAVE). (Acts 13:26-29)

 

I wrote in another post, and I proved through the scriptures, that those people who do NOT believe that JESUS CHRIST has come in the FLESH, are of an ANTICHRIST spirit. Once again I encourage any true Bible believing Christian to study the scriptures for themselves, and you will see how the Lord Jesus Christ made it clear to the Jewish people that He was the only way of salvation. Hagee’s statement that a Jewish person can live in “light of the Torah” and be in a right relationship with God is outright false. The scriptures make it clear that there is not a person in the world whom the Law does not convict of their own sin, and the only atonement which God honors and recognizes is that BLOOD ATONEMENT provided by Jesus Christ!

 

Now we know that what things soever the LAW saith, it saith to them who are under the LAW: that EVERY MOUTH may be STOPPED, and ALL the WORLD may become GUILTY before GOD. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall NO FLESH be JUSTIFIED in his sight: for by the LAW is the knowledge of SIN. (Romans 3:19-20)

They Got It All Backwards

The Law of God shows both the Jew and the Gentile that they are GUILTY before God in no uncertain terms. That would include the Jewish man, Mr David Brog who is the Executive Director of CUFI (Christians United For Israel). That would also include Mr Benjamin Netanyahu a leader in Israel, who is digging in his heels  as the controversy over land continues. Both David Brog and Benjamin Netantahu were slated to speak at the latest C.U.F.I. 2014 Summit in Washington, D.C.! Can you imagine the Jewish apostle Paul holding a Summit meeting uniting Christians with people who outright REJECT Jesus Christ as LORD and MESSIAH? Does David Brog believe that Jesus Christ is LORD and MESSIAH? Does Benjamin Netanyahu believe that Jesus Christ is LORD and MESSIAH? Once again I must tell you that this is nothing less than SPIRITUAL INSANITY! The modern day so called “prophecy experts” love to talk about the coming “Antichrist” and yet they have been cavorting with people who have an antichrist spirit for many decades now. It is totally ridiculous when you think about it! Both David Brog and Benjamin Netanyahu fall into the category of having the “spirit of antichrist” that the Jewish apostle John warned us about, and yet they will be speaking to Christians! They have it all backwards, because the Christians should be preaching to Benjamin Netanyahu and David Brog, and telling them that unless they repent, they are going to perish in their sins, and end up in Hell for eternity! (Luke 13:3, John 3:16-21, John 3:36)

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (Romans 3:21-25)

The ONLY righteousness that God honors is that righteousness which is found in his Son Jesus Christ. Nothing else can be called righteousness outside of faith in Jesus Christ. Here is another excerpt from the CRI (Christian Research Institute) Statement DH005 regarding John Hagee:

God has not entirely rejected Israel, however ; He has preserved a remnant (Rom. 11:5). Paul (himself a Jew) is living proof of this (Rom. 11:1).  Elsewhere the apostle writes, “. . . by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His [God’s] sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin. . . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 3:20, 23-24, emphasis added).

To drive the point home, Paul goes on to say, “. . . the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise nullified; . . . it is by faith, that it might be in accordance with grace” (Rom. 4:13-14, 16). Scripture draws no distinction between Jews and Gentiles on the issue of salvation, which is attained by grace through faith alone in Christ, “apart from works of the law” (3:28; cf. vv. 21-22).

Paul recognized that the Jews of his day had a misguided zeal that caused them to stumble on this very point (9:31-32; 10:2-4). Why would he suffer great anguish and wish he were accursed for Israel’s sake if none of them were truly lost?  His anguish comes from the realization that many Israelites are not saved (Rom. 9:3, 6, 27; 10:1, 9-15; cf. Acts 2:14, 21, 37-39; Rom. 11:14, 17-23).

John Hagee has also stated recently in one of his books that the Jewish people did not reject Jesus as the Messiah. The CRI (Christian Research Institute) Statement DH005 dealt with that part of his theology also:

In Hagee’s theology, the Jews can hardly be faulted for not flocking to Christianity since it was supposedly Jesus who declined their request for Him to be their Messiah. “The [Jewish] people wanted Him to be their Messiah, but He absolutely refused,” writes Hagee. “The Jews were not rejecting Jesus as Messiah, it was Jesus who was refusing to be the Messiah to the Jews!”

Jesus’ explicit claim to be the Messiah (or Christ) during His trial before the Sanhedrin, the supreme Jewish tribunal (Matt. 26:64), flatly contradicts Hagee’s assertion. In that same passage, Jesus called Himself the “Son of Man,” an unmistakable reference to the Messiah , found in the Book of Daniel (7:13) . Jesus also applied the same title to Himself in revealing His identity to “a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council” (John 3:1, 14-15), as well as to the crowd who questioned His authority to forgive sins (Mark 2:10).

Further, in response to Jesus’ question, “Who do you say I am?” (Matt. 16:15), Peter answered, “You are the Christ [Messiah]” (v. 16). Surely, had the Jewish apostle been wrong, Jesus would have corrected him at that moment; instead, Peter received the Lord’s blessing (v. 17).18   Although Jesus on occasion gave public indications of His messiahship (cf. Luke 4:17-21; 20:41-44), He  instructed Peter and  others  not to reveal His messianic identity until due time (v. 20). He did so to avoid the prevalent misconceptions about the title, which had by then become largely understood in political terms19  — something wholly inappropriate for Jesus’ mission at that time.

Hagee’s view is made especially ironic by the fact that Jesus Himself said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel” (Matt. 15:24). Scripture clearly teaches that Jesus’ own people rejected Him, and not the other way around (John 1:11; Mark 12:1-12).

I write this post today simply because it is the Spirit of God within me compelling me to warn the people. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not very hard to understand, and even a child can comprehend it, if  their minds are not corrupted by false man-made teachings. What is it that is at stake here? It is the souls of men and women all over the world that is at stake. Any person who tells you that there are other ways to God (including living in light of the Torah) is preaching a BOGUS message and a BOGUS Gospel. We are dealing with eternal issues here, and that would include the Bibles teachings on Heaven and Hell. I close with two quotes from the Bible. The first from Jesus Christ Himself, and the second from the apostle Peter:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:10-12)

GENEVA - As the world scrambles to stem the rapid spread of the killer Ebola virus, the World Health Organization is hosting a meeting Monday to discuss the ethics of using experimental drugs.


The talks come as countries ravaged by the tropical disease in west Africa are gripped by panic, with drastic measures brought in to contain the epidemic causing transport chaos, price hikes and food shortages, stoking fears people could die of hunger.

There is currently no available cure or vaccine for Ebola, one of the deadliest viruses known to man, and with the death toll fast approaching 1,000, the WHO has declared the latest outbreak a global public health emergency.

But the use of experimental drugs has opened up an intense ethical debate, and medical experts from around the world are set Monday to join WHO-hosted discussions to draft guidelines for using non-authorised medicines in emergencies such as Ebola.

Two Americans and a Spanish priest infected with the virus while working with the sick in Africa are being treated with an untested drug called ZMapp, which has reportedly shown promising results.

But the drug, made by private US company Mapp Pharmaceuticals, is still in an extremely early phase of development and had only been tested previously on monkeys.

It is also in extremely short supply, and the use of the medication on Western aid workers has sparked controversy and demands that it be made available in Africa, where Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone are the hardest hit nations.

"Is it ethical to use unregistered medicines to treat people, and if so, what criteria should they meet, and what conditions, and who should be treated?" said WHO assistant director-general Marie-Paule Kieny, who will host Monday's meeting.

"What is the ethical thing to do?"

 I. COAST BANS FLIGHTS

While impoverished Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone account for the bulk of the cases, the latest outbreak has spread further afield, with Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, counting two deaths.

Numerous countries have imposed a raft of emergency measures, including flight bans or screening of passengers.
In the latest such move, the Ivory Coast announced Monday it was banning all flights from the three hardest-hit nations.

Ebola causes fever and, in the worst cases, unstoppable bleeding, and can be fatal in up to 90 percent of cases, according to the WHO.

The virus spreads by close contact with an infected person through bodily fluids such as sweat, blood and tissue.

The latest outbreak -- which the WHO says is by far the worst since the virus was discovered four decades ago -- has killed around 55-60 percent of those infected.


The WHO said Saturday that clinical trials of vaccines against Ebola should begin soon and will likely be ready for widespread use by early next year.


"I think it's realistic," Kieny told AFP.


ZMapp appears to have been efficient in two repatriated American aid workers and which is now being administered to an infected Catholic priest repatriated to Spain.


But there are only about a handful of available treatments, and it remains unclear how quickly production could be ramped up.

As WHO engages with pharmaceutical companies and governments to try to speed up the development process of vaccines and drugs, it is faced with a range of pressing ethical questions.


Should anyone infected with the virus be given experimental treatments? And what about those who have been exposed, or who could easily become exposed due to their work, such as health care workers?


Monday's meeting, whose conclusions are due for release on Tuesday, will also look at how far testing must have progressed before an experimental drug can be provided, said Kieny.


"Is there a set of characteristics that these unregistered medicines should meet in terms of having demonstrated efficacy in terms of safety data, and in how many humans?"


Kieny said the session would only address the principles and provide guidance to the WHO on how to proceed, but that the UN agency planned a longer meeting later to look further into the issue.

On the 2nd August 2014, TB Joshua announces to his congregation that he had just finished a meeting with a large delegations of officials from the government and NGO’s such as UNICEF discussing various issues, including the Ebola crisis. The delegation formally handed him a letter, the contents of which he didn’t disclose.

The way he described this meeting led his delighted flock to believe that the officials had come to seek the counsel of their “man of God”. Though the contents of the official letter was never disclosed, it seems very likely that it announced the tough measures being taken against any faith healers claiming to be able to heal Ebola. The Washington post have reported that any pastor or healer claiming to be able to heal the virus will face jail time.

He next goes on to say that when the new anointed water came out, he didn’t allow it to be sent everywhere because God had revealed the coming Ebola crisis to him. He says he will donate 2000 bottles of the anointed water to each of the affected countries and if invited by the government, he will even deliver it personally and spray it everywhere.

The clear message behind his statement is that his anointed water is the solution to the Ebola crisis. We hope the Nigerian government will follow through and take the necessary action to prevent the ego of this fake pastor from exacerbating this deadly crisis.

General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope B. Joshua, has announced the suspension of his healing programmes for a few weeks as part of measures to prevent the dreaded Ebola virus from entering Nigeria.

He made the announcement yesterday while receiving a team of officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Federal Government who visited SCOAN Headquarters in Ikotun Egbe, Lagos. SCOAN is reputed for its claims of divine healing and is a popular destination for sick people from several parts of the world seeking miraculous cure.

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who led the delegation, said the visit was in recognition of SCOAN’s status as an international Christian congregation whose members comprise people from all over the world, including the countries of West African sub-region already affected by the Ebola disease.
The commissioner added that the visit is one of the state government’s strategies of sensitising faith-based organisations on the need to cooperate with the government to prevent the spread of the disease by educating worshippers to report health issues to medical experts.

Idris said the Federal and state governments were working hard to prevent the virus from coming into the country.

“We have our strategies that we intend to share with you. Again, we need to know the resources you have here because whether it is one or two cases, if they are allowed to get out, it is a major problem. We are here to work together on how to contain this disease,” Idris told the cleric.

Another member of the delegation and Director, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Professor Abdulsalami Nasidi, said the visit was to inform the church’s leadership about the deadliness of the Ebola virus and to ensure that it does not enter Nigeria.

Nasidi, who is an epidemiologist and a virologist, said the meeting was a “positive engagement mission”. “We are here to engage you positively. We know the powers of this House and your powers and we are duty- bound to protect you and your congregation. We have no doubt the power God has given you; we can’t do that, but we want to help and make it work stronger,” he said.

While the delegation came short of telling the cleric not to accept victims of the disease who may want to seek healing in his church, it however made it clear that the government would do everything to ensure the disease is not imported into the country under any guise, after a Liberian government official died of the virus in a Lagos hospital. He flew into the country to attend an Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) meeting in Calabar.

Professor Nasidi said the government is worried as the Synagogue congregation comprises of people from around the world.

He said government would provide technical and medical expertise to help the Synagogue team deal with any suspected Ebola case. “We have experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr. Musa is an expert who has all the guidelines, we have Dr. Yaunti of the UNICEF, he has all the materials to work with you, to make sure your people know how to handle Ebola.”

The experts are to work with the Committee on Technical issues and the church’s health team to “train them on how to handle this dangerous situation, pass some materials to them, share knowledge with them and if need be provide some technical materials,” Nasidi said.

The committee will also provide underground medical support to the Synagogue church laboratories to be able to diagnose the virus.

The delegation also reiterated that the Ebola disease comes from a most deadly virus which “spreads so fast from man to man especially those who come in contact with the victims, share body fluid during treatments.”
Nasidi said: “These are the areas we felt we should come and engage and work with you to ensure that members of your congregation, everybody in Lagos and Nigeria will be free of this disease.”

In his response, Prophet Joshua promised to work with the government to ensure that the disease does not spread into the country. He said he would put some measures in place to ensure people from the affected countries do not enter Nigeria.

According to the popular televangelist, one of such measures would be to visit any of the countries when necessary rather than allow their residents come into Nigeria. He would also suspend some of his church healing programmes for a few weeks. “I am ready to work with you, I love my country and I will be ready to work with you. Even if it is a rumour, there is need to secure our environment to ensure that it is safe,” Joshua said.

On the team were the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Lateef Raji, his media counterpart, Mr. Hakeem Bello, and Dr. Frank Mahoney from the CDC.

Nigerian official warns pastors and healers to stop making false Ebola-cure claims

African governments are doubling down on efforts to contain the widening Ebola outbreak in West Africa, which also involves combating rumors and falsehoods about the disease.
In Nigeria, there has been only one confirmed Ebola death: A Liberian man traveling through the Lagos airport collapsed, then succumbed to the virus.
But to tackle the dangerous and potentially deadly rumor mill, a government official in Lagos state has issued a stern warning: Pastors claiming to have cured Ebola could face jail time, according to CAJ News Africa:

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Aderemi Ibirogba, specifically advised the citizenry to be wary of the activities of alleged fraudsters who were reportedly making spurious claims about their ability to provide cure for the deadly virus.
He called on those who wanted to rip off members of the public to desist from such claims of cure or risk arrest and prosecution.
"Only medical solutions are known to be appropriate for the disease," said Ibirogba.

That may seem obvious, but given the continued spread of the virus, it has become necessary. Ebola is not particularly easy to contract — someone has to come in contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person. But in many cases, the disease spreads further when infected people avoid medical help or seek out traditional healers.
For example, earlier this week, a Nigerian pastor, Ituah Ighodalo, wrote a Facebook post that highlighted a "solution to Ebola!"
The post — which was factually incorrect — was focused on the story of a Canadian-American Pentecostal pastor and faith healer by the name of John G. Lake, who operated a ministry in Africa in the early 1900s.
"Several years ago, Ebola virus erupted in Africa, killing thousands without restrain or cure," Ighodalo wrote. "A great man of God by the name John G Lake came to the rescue. Laying hands on infected people who were not to be touched."
Well, not quite: As the World Health Organization helpfully notes, the Ebola virus first emerged in 1976 — 41 years after Lake's death.
Anyway, Ighodalo continued: "[W]ith bare hands, cleaning secretion and curing every victim, John G Lake along with his Holy Ghost filled team, brought to an abrupt end the spread of the deadly virus. When asked by the medical world how he did it. He had this to say: I have the life of God in me, every virus that comes in contact with me dies."
Ighodalo added: "That higher life that put out Ebola in the days of John G Lake will do the same through you in your day! At the Name of Jesus, Ebola will bow out! Stop the fear!"
And: "Let this message of hope and faith go viral and the Ebola viral spread will stop!"
Of course, there is no cure for Ebola.
Between 60 and 90 percent of people who contract the virus die; the current Ebola outbreak has claimed 729 lives in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia, according to the WHO.
In a subsequent Facebook post, Ighodalo — who, according to his Facebook page, has several degrees, including a combined economics and accounting degree from the University of Hull in England — tried to walk back his previous statements.
"I am not in any way...attempting to deny the existence of the virus in Nigeria, or to encourage anyone to seek interaction with the virus, but rather to assert a superior truth that is consistent with the scriptures and stir the faith of those of us who are believers in Christ Jesus," he wrote.
While churches, healing houses and traditional healers can play a critical role by alerting public health officials to potential Ebola cases, Nigerian officials have been forced to warn them not to try healing Ebola patients themselves, according to local news reports:

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Professor Abdulsalami Nasidi of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said some of the affected people with EVD in neighbouring countries might want to come to Lagos, Nigeria, where there were many healing houses that claim to have cure for diseases. ...
He explained that in regions where EVD had killed many people, some of the victims had flocked to healing houses for cure, but ended up spreading the virus, with the supposed healers contracting the deadly virus.

A Christian radio host who enthusiastically looks for signs the world will end welcomed the Ebola virus as a cleansing force.
“This Ebola epidemic could become a global pandemic and that’s another name for plague,” said broadcaster Rick Wiles on his “Trunews” program.
“It may be the great attitude adjustment that I believe is coming,” Wiles continued. “Ebola could solve America’s problems with atheism, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, pornography, and abortion.”

As MPs collect signatures to force a recommitting of the annulled anti-homosexuality law, word in certain NGO circles is that Speaker Rebecca Kadaga owes the country an explanation.

The view that the otherwise popular Speaker should tell Ugandans why she allowed the law to be enacted pass without the necessary quorum seems to be gaining currency.

Meanwhile, a group of Christians from Portbell Road Fellowship led by their pastors have petitioned Ms Kadaga over the nullified Anti-Homo Sexuallity law.

Constitution Court recently nullified the law that was passed by President Yoweri Museveni in February this year, on grounds that there was no quorum in parliament at the time it was passed.

In their petition, the group that first matched from Nakawa to Parliament in a Monday morning protest claimed they are aggrieved by the Constitutional Court ruling on August 1, 2014, which over the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2014.

“We still need this law to help curb funding, promotion of homosexuality and to protect our people, especially children from being recruited into this dehumanizing lifestyle. We are behind the MPs who have up to have the law re-tabled in parliament,” read part of the petition signed by Pastor Wilber Mukisa, chairman Portbell Road Pastor’s Fellowship.

Kampala- The lead lawyer of petitioners against the Anti-Homosexuality law 2014 that was annulled last Friday will demand a “high and expensive” bill of costs in the region of Shs15b, according to Mr Caleb Alaka.

Mr Alaka, however, hastened to add the team of lawyers that argued out the case is yet to meet and agree on estimates of their bill to be filed for approval by the Court’s Registrar.

In a telephone interview yesterday, Mr Alaka said the petition was very expensive as it involved voluminous research.

“If you saw us entering court you must have observed we carried heavy files. I have never read such literature. We had to research widely and that made the petition very costly.

That is why court awarded us 50 per cent of the cost,” Mr Alaka said.

However, Mr Ladislaus Rwakafuzi, a renowned human rights lawyer, yesterday told Daily Monitor that they would ask a maximum bill of Shs500m “since it was a public interest case.”

Ms Fridah Mutesi, another lawyer who represented the petitioners declined to estimate what the bill would look like, saying: “We shall go with whatever court gives us after taxation.”

The petition against the Anti-Homosexuality law was filed by 10 pro-homosexuality rights activists including former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Prof Morris Ogenga Latigo, Makerere University law don, Prof Joe Oloka Onyango and journalist Andrew Mwenda.

Recently, court awarded Shs12.9b, almost twice the entire Judiciary annual wage bill, to city lawyer Severino Twinobusingye who blocked Parliament from forcing PM Amama Mbabazi, Ministers Sam Kutesa and Hilary Onek to ‘step aside’ over oil bribery allegations.

In an interview with this newspaper a month later, Mr Twinobusingye called the hefty award mere ‘peanuts.’

Seemingly picking a lesson from the Twinobusingye case, Mr Alaka said, “Since Twinobusingye was given Shs13b, ours will certainly be in that range or higher.”

When pressed harder, Mr Alaka said, “About Shs15b.” “We are yet to meet and agree but of course our bill will be high. With 50 per cent awarded by court that means we shall get Shs7b,” he explained. However, Mr Rwakafuzi expressed shock at the amount, saying: “That is not true. It is impossible! The maximum we can get is shs500m. There were 10 petitioners so if each is given shs50m that is 500m but remember that we were awarded half so it translates to shs250m.

HOW COURT ANNULLED THE ANTI-HOMOSEXUALITY LAW 2014

Last Friday, a panel of five justices of the Constitutional Court, including acting deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma, annulled the anti-gay law. Our reporter Athony Wesaka was in court and below presents a slightly edited judgment of how the Act was annulled.

a). That the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2014 by the 9th Parliament on December 20, 2013, without quorum in the house was in contravention of Articles 2(1) & (2), 88 and Rule 94(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and Rule 23 of the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure;

b). That Sections 1,2, and 4 of the Anti Homosexuality Act 2014, in defining the criminalising consensual same sex/gender sexual activity among adults in private, are in contravention of the right to equality before the law without any discrimination and the right to privacy guaranteed under Articles 2(1) &(2), 2KD (2) &(4) and 27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda respectively;

c). That Section 2(1 )(c) of the Anti-Homosexuality Act 2014, in criminalising touching by persons of the same sex creates an offence that is overly broad and is in contravention of the principle of legality under Articles 2(1) & (2), 28(1), (3b), (12), 42 and 44(c) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

KAMPALA - The Constitutional Court on Friday nullified the anti-gay law. The panel of five judges agreed with the petitioners that the law was passed without quorum.

“Parliament presided over by the speaker carried out an illegality,” the judges ruled.

Supporters of the the Act have vowed to appeal in the Supreme Court.

The law came into effect in February after President Yoweri Museveni assented to it earlier this year in February.

Government is to petition Supreme Court over Court ruling on the Anti-Homosexuality law.

Ndorwa West MP, David Bahati on Friday said that the Attorney General will petition the Supreme Court over the Constitutional Court ruling on the Act; just hours after court nullified it (Anti-Homosexuality law) which was approved by President Yoweri Museveni in February 2014.

“I want to thank the speaker, MPs who stood for what is right. The lawyer that represented government said she was not given chance to prove that there was quorum in parliament.

The court case ruling is no victory at all, the morals of the people of Uganda will prevail,” Mr Bahati said in a press briefing before adding, “The Attorney General who is very competent will petition the constitutional court over the constitutional court ruling. Our competent legal team will continue to petition the Supreme Court and I believe we will win.”

Mr Bahati’s remarks come just hours after the Constitutional Court on Friday declared the Anti-Homosexuality Law null and void on grounds that Speaker Rebecca Kadaga passed the law without the required quorum.

A panel of five judges including, the Acting Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Justices, Augustine Nshimye, Eldad Mwangusya, Solomy Balungi Bossa and Rubby Aweri Opio on a unanimous voted to nullify the law saying Ms Kadaga was warned by three people including Premier Amama Mbabazi against passing it (the law) but she ignored.

Court also awarded the petitioners 50% of the costs of the suit. The case involved a group of pro-gay activists who sued the Attorney General (AG) challenging the passing of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill into law for lack of quorum. They include; Prof. Joe Oloka-Onyango, MP Fox Odoi-Oywelowo, veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda, Prof. Morris Latigo, Dr. Paul Nsubuga Ssemugoma, Jacqueline Kasha Nabagesera, Julian Pepe Onziema, and Frank Mugisha in March this year.

The other petitioners include the indigenous civil society organizations; Human Rights Awareness and Promotion Forum (HRAPF) and the Centre for Health, Human Rights and Development (CEHURD

KAMPALA - A series of video clips featuring former Uganda Cranes football manager, Christopher Mubiru Kisingiri, having sex with young boys and girls were shown in court on Thursday.

The footage, displayed in bits and lasting about five minutes within closed chambers, revealed the ex-manager engaged in acts of sodomy.

The video clips were submitted to Buganda road magistrate’s court by Arising for Christ Ministry pastor, Moses Male.

Mubiru was arrested on December 15 last year over the acts and later released on police bond a week later.

Prosecution, led by Lillian Omara, alleges that Mubiru had canal knowledge with a boy “against the order of nature” – sodomy – a crime punishable by 18 years in jail on conviction.

The incident in question is said to have occurred in December 2009 in Mengo, Kampala.

Speaking before court as the second witness, Pastor Male, 56, revealed that the boy confessed to him that Mubiru had sodomized him.

Promises

Court, presided over by Lillian Buchyana, heard that the former national team manager had promised the boy a job abroad, sponsorship, money and cars if he slept with him.

Male said: “Mubiru met the victim and promised to introduce him to his family and take care of him.”

The pastor said the boy and another victim told him what they had gone through during the process of counseling.

The accused, also a former Sports Club Villa manager, turned up in court on Thursday wearing a striped purple shirt and black trousers.

According to Male, Mubiru invited one of the victims for a party at his residence in Mengo. After eating and drinking, he told court, the boy lost consciousness, only to wake up hours later with his rear outlet sore and oozing blood.

As he was cross-examined by lawyer Anthony Kaweesi, the city pastor said the victim went for treatment and that was when he was checked and confirmed to have been sodomized.

The victims, he revealed, told him during counseling that they feared to expose Mubiru’s acts because he had told them he had connections with security operatives including soldiers.

It is understood the pastor was approached by the victims after a talk show on local media.

The case was adjourned until August 21 – three weeks away – for further hearing.

The government of Uganda has clarified its position on the Anti-homosexuality Act.  In a statement released Monday afternoon the Government said the Act was misrepresented.

Police in Pader district have arrested five people suspected to be promoting the act of homosexuality in the district.

The suspects were arrested in the period of one week after the tip off by the locals, who accused the suspects of moving within the schools in the district, promoting the practice which was early this year criminalized by the Anti-homosexual Act 2014.

It’s alleged that the suspects have been carrying out clandestine movements in both primary and secondary schools in the district luring the pupils and students into the practice.
The OC Pader Central Police Station, Mr Romeo Ojara Onek, confirmed the arrest, adding that police is still investigating the matter.

He said among the arrested suspects include two businessmen, one teacher, and two students who are allegedly recruiting and promoting the act.

Last year one of the teachers in the district reported a similar case to Pader district authorities.
This comes barely a month after the United States announced it had cut aid to Uganda and cancelled a military exercise in response to the Anti-homosexuality law that allegedly imposes harsh penalties on homosexuality.

The new law, signed by President Yoweri Museveni in February this year, imposes jail terms of up to life for "aggravated homosexuality" which includes homosexual sex with a minor or while HIV-positive.
Widely condemned by donor countries, the law also criminalizes lesbianism for the first time and makes it a crime to "help" individuals engage in homosexual acts.
