National Unity Platform (NUP) principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has attacked Kin Kaliisa’s NBS TV for misleading his supporters with fake election results.

In a letter dated 27th January 2021, to Next media services limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Kyagulanyi condemns NBS for establishing its own Tally Center (which other media houses were not allowed to do), “By 11:00pm, they were saying that Museveni had 63% from several districts. Most citizens wondered where these results were coming from. To complete their well calibrated plan, they lined up some so-called analysts to justify the results. It was clear the intention was to create the impression that Museveni was leading so as to dampen the spirits of the citizens.”

Accompanying his letter of protest, the NUP president said, “At the height of the most fraudulent election in our nation’s history, after the regime locked out credible election observers and cut off the internet; after the regime came out and said that no one except the Electoral Commission had the authority to release election results, NBS was at hand to assist the dictatorship in committing the most vile crime against the people of Uganda.”Cartoon of the week: Tribalistic voting

Bobi Wine, who contested and lost to Yoweri Museveni in the presidential elections has argued that NBS Television under the Nation Media Services Ltd conspired with Museveni’s regime to reinstate the incumbent as president.

Bobi Wine claims that NBS Television attributed to him false results throughout their ‘live’ coverage of the election. He adds that the whole reporting by the Naguru based station was against him and his NUP party.

“NBS claimed to have established its own Tally Center (which other media houses were not allowed to do), and by 11:00pm, they were saying that Museveni had 63% from several districts. Most citizens wondered where these results were coming from,” Bobi Wine added.

Bobi Wine insists that NBS lied to the nation that the results being relayed were coming from Districts, some of which he claims had not even not finished tallying results by the time of their broadcast.

“Every sensible citizen could see that there was deliberate ploy to create an impression that Gen Museveni was in a steady lead nationally by broadcasting only results from hi strongholds,” he added.

Bobi Wine also claims that for NBS to complete their well calibrated plan, lined up what he labeled ostensible analysts to justify the results. He argued that such was clearly an intention to create the impression that Museveni was leading so as to dampen the spirits of the citizens who had roundly rejected Museveni’s rule as president.

Next Media Group Chief Executive Officer Kin Ibrahim Kariisa is mourning the dead of his elder brother and employee Dr. Anas Abdu Noor Kariisa.

Dr. Anas kariisa died on Wednesday evening. His cause of death is still unknown.

Posting on his Twitter page, Kin Kariisa eulogized his elder brother who he said was more than just a brother.

“It is with great pain that I share with you that my elder brother, and Chairman of Sanlam Charity Foundation, Dr. A. A. Kaliisa, has died this evening,” Kin posted.

“Dr. Kaliisa has been more than just my brother. He raised me and has been a father figure to me. May God rest his soul in eternal peace,” he added.

Due to the difference in age, many Ugandans had mistaken Dr. Anas as Kin Kariisa’s father.

But The Tower Post understands that Kin’s father Hajji Kariisa died in 1978 when Kin was just two years old.

With the death of Dr. Anas Kariisa, Kin not only loses an elder brother but a father figure and mentor.
