Jinja Chief Magistrate's court has issued an order for the burial of Yekosofat Mwavu, the former director of the Universal Apostles Church of Righteousness who breathed his last on June 25, 2018.
Born in 1923 Mwavu founded the church together with late Noah Kalange and Miki Ross Mafabi in 1963. He died in Iganga district at the home of one of his sons, Samuel Tusubira, who however said that his dad could not be buried without receiving financial support from the church that he founded.

But the decision was challenged by his brother Daniel Mwavu who filed an application at the Jinja Chief Magistrate's court demanding for the immediate burial of their father. He faulted his brother of hatching a plan to seize their father's wealth.

The deceased's brother, Ronald Isiko says that Tusubira was claiming to be the only son of his father who reserved the powers of handling his funeral rites, prompting the court process.

The late Mwavu's body was kept at the Kampala City Mortuary pending a decision by the court. After the decision by the court, the body was taken to his ancestral home in Mafubira sub-county for burial on Saturday.

Tusubira maintains that the conflict between him and his siblings are fuelled by leaders in the Universal Church who have failed to reward his father with a descent sendoff.
"Whatever is happening within my family is masterminded by some leaders of the church who usurped my father's position as a church director and have failed to reward him with a decent burial in appreciation of his faithful work towards the Universal Church," Tusubira says.
Sausipateli Tubone, the current director of the Universal Church says that Tusubira is on a mission to divide the church.

"According to our faith, bodies are buried within two days but what my son, Tusubira did was far below the church standards," Tubone says.
Mwavu is survived by eight children and 20 grandchildren.

Police in Jinja has arrested a father who chased his children away from home, who he says have refused to subscribe to a denomination called Universal Apostle Fellowship Church for Righteousness.
Fred Tibenkana Musota, 64, his wife, Florence Kwikiriza, 50 and Isaac Musasizi are currently held at Butiki in Jinja district on allegations that their church announced that they should not associate with people opposed to their religious group, and thus are supposed to raise their children away from home.
According to Betty Tulindirira, a daughter to Tibenkana, their dad “woke up one day” and instructed them to leave his home if they are not ready to support and belong to the cult.

He gave them only 3 days after which, according to Tulindirira, he “started throwing our things out of the house.”
It is that incident that inspired Betty to rush to police for assistance, and police swung to action and arrested the three suspects.

Sospeter Tubone, the Director of the Universal Apostle Fellowship Church for Righteousness Churches in Uganda spoke to this website at the church headquarters on Maggwa road in Jinja.
During the interview, Tubone quoted a couple of bible statements to back up his strange decisions.
For instance, he quoted 1 Corinthians 5:9, which reads: “I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people”, but when you continue up to verse 13 – it reads:
“Not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[a] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. ‘Expel the wicked person from among you.’”
Police officers we talked to argued that such churches have increased domestic violence in families, and that people should be so keen while choosing the churches they go to.

President hails Universal Apostles Fellowship leaders for hard work, urges them on poverty fight, Kaliro

Thursday 2nd January 2014

President Yoweri Museveni has commended the leaders of the Universal Apostles Fellowship Church of Righteousness (UAFCR) for preaching hard work and urged them to sensitize their folk against the HIV/AIDS scourge. The President was on Tuesday speaking during the jubilee celebrations for the locally founded Church under the leadership of Prophet Micros Mafabi in Kirama, Kaliro District.
The President who initially commissioned a new police posted donated to the community by the Church and later toured the school facility under the Church and a foundation stone said the foundation of the Church was summarized by Jesus Christ when He taught the Disciples about God's commandments.

"The most important ones are: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as you love yourself. When we came into government, they said we should not allow any other religions but I said if they are not against us they are with us," he said, adding that he was pleased to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations in spite of his busy schedule which included issues surrounding the war in South Sudan.

President Museveni commended the Church leaders for not only preaching the word of God but also for being hard working. He observed that from their testimony they were both multiplying the population and working hard, an issue which is in line with the teachings of the Bible.
He commended the followers for being NRM supporters and urged them to embrace the fight against poverty by engaging in modern agro production.

He reminded them that in the 1996 NRM manifesto, government recommended the utilization of at least four acres of land per household for cultivation of clonal coffee, fruits such as mangoes, oranges and pineapples, banana cultivation to ensure food security and elephant grass for zero grazing milk.
He recommended the farmers to supplement their incomes with poultry for eggs production and for the people accessing wet lands to do fish farming. He said that under this arrangement, the people would be assured of an income of at least Sh 20 million per family per annum.

The President said that while government has developed infrastructure such as the provision of electricity, piped water, roads etc some people are still living in poverty and urged them to exploit the development to ensure good household incomes.

He revealed that he has started distributing seedlings in Mayuge District through the army officers. He pledged to support the various development groups in their economic enhancement efforts.
He later donated Sh 20 million to the Church leader, Prophet Mafabi as part of his contribution towards the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The President warned the youth against HIV/AIDS, noting that the major transmission route was promiscuity. He stressed that there was no need for the youth to look for pleasure through irresponsible behavior and reminded them that there was time for everything. He strongly urged them to study, get employment and thereafter have a family. He congratulated the Christians of the Universal Church for celebrating the 50 years anniversary. The leader of the Universal Apostles Church of Righteousness Prophet Micros Mafabi welcomed the President to Kirama, Kaliro District which he described as the foundation of the Church.
