The guest speaker, Bishop Joshua Lwere, the overseer of the Born Again
Churches, told the UPDF soldiers that God would
punish them if they don’t kill “perpetuators of evil”. “When you fight righteous war, God is with you. If you don’t
kill those who perpetuate evil, God will kill you,” he said.
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves,
but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance
is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore
if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but
overcome evil with good(Roman 12:19-21)
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (Matthew 5:43-46)

Posted Monday, February 24 2014 at 09:50The Senior Presidential Adviser on Defence, Gen Salim Saleh, has requested the ministry of Defence to give tenders to the army veterans and widows of the dead soldiers to supply food to the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
Gen Saleh, who was the chief guest at the UPDF
thanksgiving breakfast in Mbuya Military Barracks at the weekend, said
the contract would generate money to improve welfare of these groups who
are living “poor and miserable” lives.
He said at least 52,000 soldiers were retrenched
in 1990s but only 10 per cent of the retirement package was paid, which
he said was unfair to the retired soldiers.
“If it was not the discipline of the UPDF, these veterans would have caused trouble. But we now have 28,000 acres under grains and if it was not because of drought, we would have about 40,000 tonnes…. I pray that the Ministry of Defence gives a tender to supply them food,” he said.

The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Katumaba Wamala,
praised the UPDF for foiling assassination attempt on the Somali
president by the Somali insurgents on Friday.
“As late as yesterday, the president’s life was in
danger. But it’s UPDF that thwarted the attack on the Presidential
palace. It’s our commitment to fight terrorism,” he said.
