Ecumenists in Uganda celebrate 400 years of the King James Bible: Prof. Nsibambi says religious factions misinterpret the bible.

My analysis

The Former premier argues that in order to curb the mushrooming sects that misinterprete the bible, religious leaders should undergo training in theology so that they interpret it correctly. This solution is ambiguous because it does not clarify Which theology? When you go to a catholic seminary you come out with catholic theology, when you go to an Anglican seminary you come out with Anglican theology, When you go to a Seventh Adventist Seminary, you come out with Seventh Adventist theology, when you go a seminary of the orthodox church , you come out with orthodox theology? In fact many theology seminaries are more dangerous to the word of God than these so-called sects. The bible society of Uganda is controlled by Catholics and ecumenists who are manipulating the word of God . How comes the King James Bible has not been translated in local languages???????????????

The head of the catholic church in Uganda Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, said whoever misconstrued the bible did it in Satan’s name. “Such people are spreading the word of Satan and working against God,” said Bishop Lwanga adding that, “They promote division, while the Bible upholds unity.” Oh! Really! Doesn’t the bible talk about unity based on truth(John 17:19)(I Tim. 3:15(church is a pillar of the truth)) and is there an institution on the face of the earth that has misconstrued the word of God like the catholic church. Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga made this remark during the celebration of 400 years of the KJB; but was he tactfully attaching the King James bible. See, how the KJV promotes division by attacking the catholic Good news bible and the Catholic New Jerusalem Bible). The KJV calls Peter a stone while these catholic bibles call Peter a Rock. This is a clear division.

42And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.( John :1:42 King James Version (KJV))

42 Then he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, Your name is Simon son of John, but you will be called Cephas. (This is the same as Peter and means a rock. ( John :1:42 Good News Translation (GNT)

42 and he took Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, 'You are Simon son of John; you are to be called Cephas' -- which means Rock. (John :1:42 New Jerusalem Bible)

18 And so I tell you, Peter: you are a rock, and on this rock foundation I will build my church, and not even death will ever be able to overcome it. .( Matthew 16:18 Good News Translation (GNT)

Kampala

Former Prime minister Apolo Nsibambi has condemned people who misinterpret the Bible saying they are responsible for the mushrooming religious factions and sects. “Although translating the Bible into local languages is very good, it poses some problems. Some people misinterpret it and form different religious factions and sects,” Prof Nsibambi said. He said it is therefore, important for religion leaders to undergo training in theology so that they interpret it correctly.

Mr Nsibambi was officiating at the Bible exhibition in celebration of 400 years of King James’ Version Bible at the Bible House on July 15. Mr Nsibambi also said individual ownership of the Bible has unfortunately declined, attributing it to the poor reading culture and increasing secular cultures. He said currently when people leave office, they rush to bars, others go to watch football and other entertainment that appeal to them, which greatly affected the culture of reading the Bible.

Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga said whoever misconstrued the bible did it in Satan’s name. “Such people are spreading the word of Satan and working against God,” said Bishop Lwanga adding that, “They promote division, while the Bible upholds unity.”

Former Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi has decried the poor reading culture among Ugandans that has forced them to abandon the Bible.

Nsibambi was on Friday launching a booklet entitled Read The New Testament In 400 Days produced by the Bible Society of Uganda. He also launched the new version of the King James Bible, which costs sh80,000.

“When people leave their offices, they go to bars and drink beer, whiskey as well as other alcoholic substances. Others go to watch football or other entertainments which appeal to them. This has greatly affected the culture of reading the Bible,” he said.

A political science professor, Nsibambi cautioned parents and teachers against forcing children to read the Bible as they would resent it when they grow up.

“It is important that parents do not force, but persuade their children to read the Bible so that the habit of reading it is spontaneously developed and sustained,” he added.

The function held in Kampala was part of the activities of the Bible week in commemoration of the 400 years of King James Bible, which was published in 1611.

Nsibambi observed that although the Bible Society of Uganda had done a commendable job of translating the Bible into 12 local languages, it had also posed some problems like some people misinterpreting it and forming different religious factions.

“It is, therefore, important for religious leaders to undergo training in theology so that they may interpret it correctly,” Nsibambi added.

He advised those who were too busy to read the Bible to buy Bible audio CDs from the Bible Society of Uganda, which they can listen to while driving.

The Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, said all solutions to earthly problems were in the Bible.

He regretted that “we are doing all sorts of things, including men marrying fellow men and women marrying fellow women” contrary to biblical teachings. “Even dogs and pigs cannot do such a thing,” he added.

Lwanga advised those eager to become leaders to be “without fault, have one wife and be sober”.

He commended Nsibambi for retiring honourably, citing a Luganda proverb ‘Awakula ennume tewakula emu’ — loosely translated to mean there will always be other people to replace a good leader.

Lwanga urged other Ugandans to emulate Nsibambi.
