The confirmed case is a 24-year-old male, a resident Ngabano village of Madudu Sub County in Mubende District who presented with EVD symptoms and later died, according to Ministry of Health.

Senior Ministry of Health staff rushed to Mubende after unknown number of residents succumbed to what was initially reported as a “strange illness” until yesterday’s confirmation.

“The clinical team took off samples for testing at UVRI. Results confirmed that the patient was positive for the Ebola-Sudan strain. The ministry of Health and partners have dispatched a Rapid Response Team to Mubende District to support the teams in surveillance, contact tracing, and case management,” the Ministry of Health Permanent secretary, Dr Dian Atwine told journalists in Kampala on Tuesday.

The Democratic Republic of Congo, which neighbours Uganda to the west, is currently battling an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease, previously categorised as a haemorrhagic fever.
"Uganda has stellar experience in handling outbreaks and epidemics of this nature. The Ministry of Health has dispatched teams to Mubende District to enhance surveillance and community awareness. The public is urged to remain vigilant and calm as teams undertake the necessary action," Dr Atwine added.

According to the World Health Organisation, the disease is transmitted to people from animals and spreads through human-to-human infection.
Uganda has had at least three previous episodes of Ebola Virus Disease, the most deadly being in 2000 that killed hundreds, including its lead treatment Doctor Matthew Lukwiya.

Gen Saleh said that the country needs harmony in every aspect so that people stop discriminating or hating each other on the basis of trivial matters such as tribes.

What this country needs is Operation Harmony, we need harmony in marriages etc. We have returned to tribalism, tribalism is bad, once you start looking at yourself as tribes, then the whole society collapses,” he said.

Gen Saleh’s death had been started by Ugandan vlogger Lumbuye who claimed that the General had passed on days ago and his body was being hidden by Museveni for fear of public reaction.”

We can exclusively and authoritatively reveal that Rtd Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho, aka Salim Saleh is alive and kicking, contrary to persistent reports by some bloggers claiming he is dead. The speculations went even into high gears when today, Saturday September 17th 2022, a string of posh cars and deployment of heavy security were noticed at his Buziga Home of his wife Jovia Saleh.

Social media was awash with stories of how security had been beefed up at the amiable general’s plush home, with many posts supposing that the general who had been sarcastically rumored sick, had ‘passed’ on. However, we can impeccably report that this development was due to nothing related to the General`s health, but rather, a merry-making function. His lovely daughter Esteeri Mugulwa was introducing her fiancé, Ivan Bidna Muhoozi. We therefore, on good authority, can confirm that Gen. Saleh is in pristine condition and that the added security deployment leading to his residence was in preparation for the introduction (Kuhingira) occasion.

Who is Esteeri Mugulwa Akandwanaho?

Esteeri, is daughter to Jovia and Caleb Akandwanaho. She was named after Gen. Saleh`s fallen mother Esteeri Kokundeka. Esteeri is famous for having filed for divorce in March 2020, at the Nakawa Chief Magistrate`s Court, seeking separation with her hitherto estranged husband, Engineer Rowland Ndizeye Sekazinga. She wanted him to be found a mad man as grounds for Court to annul their marriage. Through her lawyers of Kashillingi Rugaba and Associates, Esteeri told court that Sekazinga had bluntly refused to seek medical attention thus could not stay in the marriage. The couple later divorced. Sekazinga later remarried a daughter of Gen. Pecos Kuteesa.

Who Is Ivan Bidna Muhoozi?

Bidna, is a very friendly, free spirited and high-flying Kampala socialite who prefers to keep his businesses discreet. However, he came to prominence in 2017, when it was relayed in Kampala gossip pages that he and Esteeri, who was still married, were an item. He later graduated to becoming inseparable with Esteeri, as he took on the mantle of chauffeuring her to her offices in Kololo, while at the same time playing the ‘Fatherly’ role to her two twin daughters. With the pair choosing to make their union official today, it lends credence to the old English adage that there is no smoke without fire.

The case, in which Esteri Mugulwa, a daughter to Gen.Caleb Akandwanaho, also known as Salim Saleh wants her divorced husband’s mental status checked has been fixed for hearing.

According to a notice by the Chief Magistrates Court in Nakawa, the case for psychiatric examination is to be heard on Friday at 11 am.

Gen. Saleh's Daughter Esteri Wants Divorced Husband Declared Insane - THE SECOND OPINION

“Whereas the above-named complainant (Esteri Mugulwa) has filed a complaint on oath believing you to be a person of unsound mind upon the complaint the particulars of which are set out in the copy of the complaint attached. You are hereby commanded to appear before this court in person on the 6th day of March 2020 at 11:00am in the fore afternoon for purposes of an inquiry,” read in part the summons issued by the Chief Magistrate.

The case

Mugulwa filed for divorce with her husband Eng. Ronald Ndizeye Sekaziga in 2017 at the High Court Family Division seeking an order for maintenance and custody of their three children and consequently, Lady Justice Alexandra Nkonge Rugadya granted the divorce and ordered for joint custody of the children.

However, in a February 11, 2020 application through her lawyers of Kashillingi Rugaba Associates, Mugulwa asked the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s court to have the former husband’s mental status checked by a professional psychiatric.

“In the circumstances, we humbly seek that the matter be fixed and Your Worship proceeds to have the Respondent (Ndizeye) undergo a mental psychological evaluation by a professional,” Mugulwa said.

“We had intimated to court that there was a renewed mediation effort. However, we regret to inform court that mediation failed at the insistence of the respondent. Instead, our client (Mugulwa) has observed disturbing trends with the respondent’s visits to the children’s school with strangers.”
