US-NATO’s Neo-Nazi Government in Kiev. Towards a Scenario of Military Escalation?
This article was first published almost eight years ago on May 4, 2014, less than three months after the February 2014. EuroMaidan.
This is what I wrote eight years ago:
“The killings of civilians in Eastern and South Eastern Ukraine by Neo-Nazi mobs and members of the civilian militia opens up the possibility of a broader conflict within Ukraine, which could potentially lead to escalation. Moreover, prevailing divisions within Ukraine’s armed forces could lead to military action directed towards unseating the Kiev Neo-Nazi regime.
Known and documented, escalation is part of a longstanding scenario of military confrontation directed against the Russian Federation”
Today, the dangers of military escalation are beyond description.
We must understand the history of the Ukraine crisis and the role of Neo-Nazi mobs which have been supported by US-NATO.
What is now happening in Ukraine has serious geopolitical implications. It could lead us into a World War III Scenario.
It is important that a peace process be initiated with a view to preventing escalation.
Global Research does not support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A bilateral Peace Agreement is required.
***
The US-NATO sponsored Kiev coalition government is responsible for the killings perpetrated by Neo-Nazi Right Sector mobs and security forces in Odessa in which at least 43 people were killed.
In Odessa, Right Sector thugs set fire to the city’s Trade
Union building leading to countless deaths of innocent civilians who
were burnt alive within the building which had been set ablaze.
“Such actions are reminiscent of the crimes of the Nazis,” said Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin.
The “international community” has turned a blind eye, the Western media has described the Neo-Nazi Brown shirts as “freedom fighters”. In the words of Eric Sommers:
“May 2, 2014 – the date that fascist forces supported by the U.S. government attacked and murdered helpless civilians in the Ukraine – is a day which will live in infamy”.
In recent developments, Obama has granted full support to the crackdown on so-called “pro-Russian” activists. This movement against America’s fascist regime in Kiev is widespread. It is not limited to “ethnic Russians” as conveyed by the media. The leaders of this movement are Ukrainians.
The Neo-Nazi mobs bear the hallmarks of US sponsored terrorism (e.g Syria) trained to commit atrocities against civilians. America’s Neo-Nazi Government in Kiev is a reality. Confirmed by Germany’s Bild: “Dozens of specialists from the US Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation are advising the Ukrainian government”
“Citing unnamed German security sources, Bild am Sonntag said the CIA and FBI agents were helping Kiev end the rebellion in the east of Ukraine and set up a functioning security structure.”
Escalation
The killings of civilians in Eastern and South Eastern Ukraine by Neo-Nazi mobs and members of the civilian militia opens up the possibility of a broader conflict within Ukraine, which could potentially lead to escalation. Moreover, prevailing divisions within Ukraine’s armed forces could lead to military action directed towards unseating the Kiev Neo-Nazi regime.
Known and documented, escalation is part of a longstanding scenario of military confrontation directed against the Russian Federation.
“The Anti-Terrorist Operation”
The killings are part of the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” initiated by the Kiev government with the support of the Pentagon.
The “anti-terrorist operation” is coordinated by the National Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU). (Рада національної безпеки і оборони України), which is controlled by Svoboda and Right Sector. Dmytro Yarosh, Neo-Nazi leader of the Right Sector delegation in the parliament, oversees the National Guard, a loyal civilian militia created in March with the support of Western military advisers. Paramilitary training of the National Guard commenced in mid-March, north of Kiev.
While the media has presented the crisis as a confrontation between “pro-Russian” and “Ukrainian nationalists”, the grassroots movement in Eastern Ukraine has widespread support. It is largely directed against the Neo-Nazi Kiev regime supported by the West.
The National Guard
In the wake of the Coup, divisions have emerged within Ukraine’s regular military forces and police, which “can not be trusted” in carrying out an “anti-terrorist operation” on behalf of the Kiev regime directed against civilians:
Concerns over the loyalty of the Ukrainian army and security agencies have pushed Kiev to start forming an additional armed branch, which it will fully control.
The National Guard is designed to be 60,000-strong and completely independent from the country’s military and police.
Recruitment across Ukraine began on March 13, with around 20,000 people already joining the new uniformed service. RT
In eastern Ukraine, the National Guard has been given the mandate to “reinforce regular military units defending against a feared Russian invasion… it it is intended to act as a counterinsurgency force.”
Members of this civilian militia operating alongside Neo-Nazi mobs have been set loose in Eastern Ukraine and Odessa.
Right Sector can be identified by its members openly wearing Nazi insignia, as well as carrying crimson and black banners. Mobs supporting the Svoboda party are also present among recent clashes, wearing yellow armbands with the Nazi wolfangel symbol upon them. Odessa Massacre Pushes Ukraine to the Edge. Towards a Larger Destructive Conflict? By , May 03, 2014
The actions of the National Guard are coordinated by the RNBOU. In turn, the riot police and units of the armed forces are also overseen by RBOU, which is controlled by the two Neo-Nazi parties.
These killings of civilians are part of a carefully planned military agenda involving both the National Guard as well organized armed Neo-Nazi mobs, casually described by the media as pro-Ukrainian activists. These are the foot soldiers of the Western military alliance. The Odessa killings bear the fingerprints of a US-NATO led intelligence operation, with both National Guard and Right Sector militants trained in paramilitary combat skills including the killings of innocent civilians.
Ironically, the Israeli media, while largely supporting the Kiev regime, has tacitly acknowledged that the threat of civil war emanates from the Neo-Nazi elements within the government: “Neo-Nazi Militia Leader Threatens ‘Civil War'” according to Israel National News.
Meanwhile, NATO has scheduled military exercises in Poland “as part of NATO reassurance measures in response to the Ukraine crisis”.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has pointed to an extensive and unprecedented buildup of NATO forces within proximity of Russia’s borders.

In the West, media outlets are claiming that Russia’s agenda to “denazify” Ukraine is unfounded. At the same time, public opinion in Western countries is totally alienated from the Ukrainian reality, tending to believe only what is reported by the hegemonic media. The result of this is strong disapproval of the Russian attitude based on the lie that there is no trace of Nazism in contemporary Ukraine. In this sense, it is urgent that quality information be disseminated to the Western audience to avoid the proliferation of lies about the Ukrainian reality.
On almost every TV channel and newspaper in the West, Ukrainian Nazism is questioned with the worst possible arguments: Zelensky is Jewish, and the Ukrainian state is democratic. This kind of superficial thinking prevents a detailed analysis of the catastrophic situation in Kiev since the Maidan, when, through a coup d’état, an anti-Russian junta took power and institutionalized a racist and anti-Russian ideology, which remains until the current days.
When we talk about “Ukrainian Nazism” we are not saying that Kiev is a contemporary copy of Hitler’s Berlin, but that the neo-Nazi element is a fundamental point of post-2014 Ukraine. The Maidan coup was openly supported and financed by NATO as a way of undermining any Russian influence in Moscow’s own strategic environment. The aim was to make Ukraine a puppet state, commanded from Washington, ending any link with Russia. There was not only the objective to annihilate political, economic, and diplomatic relations between Kiev and Moscow, but also to eliminate cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic ties between both nations.
Since then, anti-Russian plans have been implemented. Ethnic Russians have been persecuted for the past eight years – even through systematic extermination in some regions. The Russian language has been criminalized in entire cities where the population does not speak Ukrainian. Schisms in the Orthodox Church have been supported to form a Ukrainian “national church” out of the Moscow Patriarchate. But the question remains: how has this been possible if Ukrainians and Russians are such close peoples? Many Ukrainians speak Russian and marry ethnic Russians, in addition to the fact that most of the country’s population follows the Orthodox Church. So how was it possible to initiate such a successful racist policy?
This was certainly one of the biggest concerns of the Maidan planners. And the answer lies in the Nazi element, which was very well worked out by Arsen Avakov, Minister of the Interior during the Poroshenko government. Avakov initiated a process of instrumentalizing neo-Nazi militias that had supported Maidan, making these extremist groups key points in the defense of the new Ukrainian regime. In the West, due to collective ignorance about Slavic history, many people think that Nazi racism was restricted to Jews, but in fact, anti-Russian hatred was one of the biggest locomotives of WWII, having led Hitler to the irrational decision to invade and try to annex the USSR. This sentiment is alive in these neo-Nazi militias, who are literally ready to do anything to annihilate the Russians, being much more fanatical in their racist convictions than the Ukrainian armed forces.
Groups such as the Azov Battalion, C14 and the armed militias of rightist parties such as Pravyy sektor and Svoboda operate freely in Ukraine and are most responsible for the extermination of ethnic Russians in the Donbass. These groups act with more violence and using more sophisticated equipment than the Ukrainian armed forces themselves, being the real face of Kiev’s anti-Russian brutality. As neo-Nazis, these militias have no obstacles in complying with the government’s objective of destroying any ties between Russians and Ukrainians, thus being the main allies of the Maidan era.
In a 2020 Freedom House’s report, “A new Eurasian far right rising”, it is said that the far right is one of the strongest and most influential elements in Ukrainian society today, being a sophisticated, highly professionalized, and visible political force. In other words, what would be violent and criminal urban groups elsewhere on the planet have been converted by Kiev into a pro-Maidan parallel armed force. The inspiration for this model of action comes from the original Nazism: the Schutzstaffel (SS) was one of the largest German armed political forces during the 1930s and 1940s, but the group was not part of the German Armed Forces, but a paramilitary militia instrumentalized by the government apart from the official troops. There was a major strategic objective with this: while the German military was commanded by the government, the SS fought for the Nazi Party and for Hitler – that is, if Germany surrendered, the SS would declare war on the German military. This type of “double-shielded” military system is the same one that Kiev has implemented: if one day a pro-Russian government is elected, the neo-Nazi militias will declare war on Kiev – and will be strong enough to defeat the official troops in the same way as the SS was stronger than the German armed forces.
It is necessary to note that these groups operate not only in the sphere of military force, but also in the cultural field, fomenting anti-Russian hatred among ordinary Ukrainians. The exaltation of Stepan Bandera (Ukrainian anti-Soviet nationalist leader who collaborated with Nazi Germany) is one of the symptoms of this. Before the Maidan, Bandera was a name like any other in Ukrainian history, but he came to be remembered and venerated as a national hero by neo-Nazis and anti-Russian politicians. In the same sense, these groups vandalize parishes and monasteries of the Russian Orthodox Church and are responsible for the consolidation of a Ukrainian mentality entirely hostile to Russia, which is gradually permeating the local population.
Ukraine is in fact ruled by a Jew and the country’s power structure is indeed publicly “democratic”, despite being internally authoritarian and corrupt. But the Nazi element is not in these aspects, but in the structure of protection of the post-Maidan Ukrainian state, which is supported by a national coalition of neo-Nazi militias whose objective is simply to persecute and kill Russians, regardless of who is in power in Kiev. It does not matter to these militias if the President of the Republic is a Jew – what matters is that Russians are dying, which favors both neo-Nazis and the pro-NATO politicians they protect. In other words, the Western media’s arguments to deny Putin’s claims about Ukrainian Nazism are weak and superficial.
Moscow is right in its concern to denazify Ukraine. It is a measure that should be taken in coalition by several countries. All over the world, Nazism is “condemned”, but only when it benefits the West. The closest political experience to Nazism in the present days has been seen and peacefully tolerated by liberal governments that claim to be defenders of human rights and democracy. Russia is simply no longer willing to put up with crimes being committed by neo-Nazis against its people and there is nothing wrong with that decision.

The 2014 Neoliberal Neo-Nazi Coup in Ukraine. The World is at a Dangerous Crossroads
GRTV Feature Interview with Michel Chossudovsky
This report dates back to the immediate aftermath of the 2014 Kiev Coup d’état, which consisted in an act of war by US-NATO directed against Ukraine, leading to the formation of a full-fledged Neo-Nazi government in Ukraine.

.
Violence and bloodshed continues to rock Ukraine as factions compete in the power vacuum of last month’s coup in Kiev.
As the country struggles to find its way forward, however, it finds itself in the crosshairs of a US-NATO war agenda that has been unfolding for years.
This is the GRTV Feature Interview with our special guest, Professor Michel Chossudovsky.
“We are not dealing with a transitional government in which Neo-Nazi elements integrate the fringe of the coalition, formally led by the Fatherland party.”
Moreover, this is the first full-fledged Neo-Nazi government in Europe in the post World War II period.
This US-NATO sponsored Coup d’etat –which has led to the formation of a coalition government integrated by Neo-Nazis– is an Act of Warfare against Ukraine.
“We have to ask ourselves: Are the architects of this Neo-Nazi government, the people who conspired to install a Nazi regime in Ukraine, are they Neo-Nazis or Neoliberals?
They claim to be Neoliberals. They are acting in support of a neoliberal economic policy agenda” (Michel Chossudovsky, March 2014)
“Washington has chosen to spearhead Neo-Nazis into positions of authority. Under a “regime of indirect rule”, however, they take their orders on crucial military and foreign policy issues –including the deployment of troops directed against the Russian federation– from the US State Department, the Pentagon and NATO.
The World is at a dangerous crossroads: The structures and composition of this proxy government installed by the West do not favor dialogue with the Russian government and military.
A scenario of military escalation leading to confrontation of Russia and NATO is a distinct possibility.
Dmytro Yarosh speech at Euromaidan (Centre)
The Ukraine’s National Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU) which is controlled by Neo-Nazis plays a central role in military affairs. In the confrontation with Moscow, decisions taken by the RNBOU headed by Neo-Nazi Andrij Parubiy and his brown Shirt deputy Dmytro Yarosh (below) –in consultation with Washington and Brussels– could potentially have devastating consequences. ” (Michel Chossudovsky, March 2, 2014)
The Day U.S.-Supported Fascists began Murdering Civilians A Day that will Live in Infamy
Those of us who grew up in the west after WWII believed that supporting anything resembling fascism was unthinkable.
The moral degeneration of the U.S. state and its Nato allies since
that time is almost beyond belief. So too is the degeneration of the
Washington Post, New York Times, and other corporate media which have
helped to delude large numbers of Americans into believing that Russia,
which has killed or attacked no one, is somehow the aggressor in
Ukraine.
In reality,
and on the ground, the U.S. government – with no mandate from the
American people – is supporting a fascist/oligarch unelected Ukrainian
‘government’ installed in a coup spear-headed by two openly fascist
parties, Svoboda and Right sector.
Now, in actions highly reminiscent of Hitler and his brown shirts, Right-sector oriented hooligans aided by military forces have just beaten with chains and baseball bats, and burned to death in the Trade Unions building of Odessa 31 civilians who were engaged in a peaceful occupation in their own city – civilians who are opposed to, and do not recognize, the new oligarch/fascist ‘government’.
December 2013
I assume that if, say, the American Nazi party allied with some
billionaires, took power in America, at least some Americans would also
resist. They might even propose a referendum, as some Eastern Ukrainian
cities have, on whether to remain in the country. If you do not believe
that Svoboda and Right sector are fascist, or that they do not now have
substantial power in the ministries of the military and security
apparatus of the new ‘government’, just look them up, and look at these photos of their leaders and followers with Nazi-style armbands, Nazi-style flags, and Nazi-style badges, and use of brown-shirt style bully boys, not to mention the leader of Svoboda giving the fascist salute:
The
Svoboda leader, Oleh Tiahnybok, whose party now controls key positions
in the military and security apparatus of the self-appointed Ukrainian
‘government, is on record as saying that the WWII Ukrainian fascists
who collaborated with the Nazis
“Were not afraid and went into the forest with their automatic rifles to kill Jews, Russian, and other filth’.
He has also called for the ”cleansing’ of Ukraine of ‘Russkie-Yid
(jewish) mafia’ and praised the convicted Nazi mass murderer John
Demjanjukas a ‘hero’.
Following
the surprise attack by the fascist Japanese government on the American
naval base at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii in 1941, President Franklin
Roosevelt began his speech to the American Congress:with these words:
“Yesterday, December 7th, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.”
After that speech, the American government and people joined with the
Soviet Union, China, Britain, Canada, and other nations in the
momentous struggle to defeat fascism and its attempt to impose its
racist ideology, holocaust, and tyranny on the whole world.
Yesterday,
the day that U.S.-state-supported fascists beat civilians with chains
and clubs and burned them to death in a trade union hall in the Ukraine –
this also is a day that will live in infamy.
Whose Swastikas? Justin Trudeau Supports Neo-Nazis in Ukraine/ By Prof. Chossudovsky
Global Research, February 05, 2022
Trudeau has referred to swastikas intimating that the Freedom Convoy organizers are supportive of Neo-Nazi symbols.
The media has gone into high gear:
“Canada needs an explicit ban on swastikas and other “loathsome” hate symbols, says one NDP MP.
NDP House Leader Peter Julian says he is looking at reintroducing a private member’s bill that aims to ban the sale and display of hate symbols in Canada, like the swastikas and Confederate flags flown at a trucker convoy in Ottawa over recent days.
… “Other countries ban Nazi symbols and I think it horrified a lot of Canadians to see the Nazi flag on Parliament Hill.”
There were a couple of reported swastika events in Ottawa coupled with a Confederate flag, confirmed by the Times of Israel). The objective was to smear the Freedom Convoy Movement.
Other countries ban Nazi symbols? What about Canada? What about Ukraine??
What the media fails to acknowledge is that Prime Minister Trudeau has consistently supported Neo-Nazi politics in Ukraine.
At Tax Payers’ Expense
The Azov battalion which is part of Ukraine’s National Guard under the helm of the Ministry of the Interior is supported by Canadian tax payers.
The leader of the Neo-Nazi party Svoboda Andrey Korubij is a political buddy of our prime minister.
Is it a matter of concern that Canadian forces dispatched by our government are training Nazi paramilitary forces in Ukraine.
According to the Ottawa Citizen (November 9, 2021)
“Canadian officials who met with members of a Ukrainian battalion linked to neo-Nazis didn’t denounce the unit, but were instead concerned the media would expose details of the get-together, according to newly released documents.
The Canadians met with and were briefed by leaders from the Azov Battalion in June 2018. The officers and diplomats did not object to the meeting and instead allowed themselves to be photographed with battalion officials despite previous warnings that the unit saw itself as pro-Nazi. The Azov Battalion then used those photos for its online propaganda, pointing out the Canadian delegation expressed “hopes for further fruitful co-operation.”
There is ample evidence of Canadian and US support to Neo-Nazis in Ukraine going back to the 2014 Euromaidan,
Nazi Leader Andrij Parubiy Invited to Ottawa by Justin Trudeau
Andriy Parubiy co-founder of the Neo-Nazi Social-National Party of Ukraine (subsequently renamed Svoboda) was invited by Trudeau to Ottawa in 2016 and supported of World War II Nazi leader Stepan Bandera
Deputy Chairman of Ukraine’s Parliament, Andriy Parubiy, visited Ottawa in February 2016, meeting with the prime minister. At that meeting (from left) are Ukraine’s Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairman Andriy Parubiy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Member of Parliament Borys Wrzesnewskyj.
Eight Years Ago: US-NATO Installed a Neo-Nazi Government in Ukraine/ By Prof Michel Chossudovsky
Global Research, January 23, 2022
Global Research 6 March 2014
his article first published by Global Research in March 2014 at the very outset of the Ukraine crisis explains the nature of the Kiev proxy regime. We are dealing with a Neo-Nazi government supported by “Western democracy” and the “international community”.
According to the New York Times,
“The United States and the European Union have embraced the revolution here as another flowering of democracy, a blow to authoritarianism and kleptocracy in the former Soviet space.” ( After Initial Triumph, Ukraine’s Leaders Face Battle for Credibility, NYTimes.com, March 1, 2014, emphasis added)
“Flowering Democracy, Revolution”? The grim realities are otherwise. What is a stake is a US-EU-NATO sponsored coup d’Etat in blatant violation of international law.
The forbidden truth is that the West has engineered –through a carefully staged covert operation– the formation of a proxy regime integrated by Neo-Nazis.
Confirmed by Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, key organizations in the Ukraine including the Neo-Nazi party Svoboda were generously supported by Washington: “We have invested more than 5 billion dollars to help Ukraine to achieve these and other goals. … We will continue to promote Ukraine to the future it deserves.”
The Western media has casually avoided to analyze the composition and ideological underpinnings of the government coalition. The word “Neo-Nazi” is a taboo. It has been excluded from the dictionary of mainstream media commentary. It will not appear in the pages of the New York Times, the Washington Post or The Independent. Journalists have been instructed not to use the term “Neo-Nazi” to designate Svoboda and the Right Sector.
Composition of the Coalition Government
We are not dealing with a transitional government in which Neo-Nazi elements integrate the fringe of the coalition, formally led by the Fatherland party.
The Cabinet is not only integrated by the Svoboda and Right Sector (not to mention former members of defunct fascist UNA-UNSO), the two main Neo-Nazi entities have been entrusted with key positions which grant them de facto control over the Armed Forces, Police, Justice and National Security.
Image left: John McCain meets Svoboda leader Oleh Tyahnybok (centre)
While Yatsenuyk’s Fatherland Party controls the majority of portfolios and Svoboda Neo-Nazi leader Oleh Tyahnybok was not granted a major cabinet post (apparently at the request of assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland), members of Svoboda and the Right Sector occupy key positions in the areas of Defense, Law Enforcement, Education and Economic Affairs.
Andriy Parubiy (image right) co-founder of the Neo-Nazi Social-National Party of Ukraine (subsequently renamed Svoboda) was appointed Secretary of the National Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU). (Рада національної безпеки і оборони України), a key position which overseas the Ministry of Defense, the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement, National Security and Intelligence. The RNBOU is central decision-making body. While it is formally headed by the president, it is run by the Secretariat with a staff of 180 people including defense, intelligence and national security experts.
Parubiy was one of the main leaders behind the Orange Revolution in 2004. His organization was funded by the West. He is referred to by the Western media as the “kommandant” of the EuroMaidan movement.
Andriy Parubiy together with party leader Oleh Tyahnybok is a follower of Ukrainian Nazi Stepan Bandera, who collaborated in the mass murderer of Jews and Poles during World War II.
Neo-Nazi march honoring Stepan Bandera
In turn, Dmytro Yarosh, leader of the Right Sector delegation in the parliament, has been appointed Parubiy’s deputy Secretary of the RNBOU.
Yarosh was the leader of the Brown Shirt Neo-Nazi paramilitary during the EuroMaidan “protest” movement. He has called for disbanding the Party of the regions and the Communist Party.
Dmytro Yarosh speech at Euromaidan (Centre)
The Neo Nazi party also controls the judicial process with the appointment of Oleh Makhnitsky of the Svoboda party to the position of prosecutor-general of Ukraine. What kind of justice will prevail with a reknown Neo-Nazi in charge of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine?
Cabinet positions were also allocated to former members of the Neo-Nazi fringe organization Ukrainian National Assembly – Ukrainian National Self Defense (UNA-UNSO):
“Tetyana Chernovol, portrayed in the Western press as a crusading investigative journalist without reference to her past involvement in the anti-Semitic UNA-UNSO, was named chair of the government’s anti-corruption committee. Dmytro Bulatov, known for his alleged kidnapping by police, but also with UNA-UNSO connections, was appointed minister of youth and sports.
Yegor Sobolev, leader of a civic group in Independence Maidan and politically close to Yatsenyuk, was appointed chair of the Lustration Committee, charged with purging followers of President Yanukovych from government and public life. (See Ukraine Transition Government: Neo-Nazis in Control of Armed Forces, National Security, Economy, Justice and Education, Global Research, March 02, 2014
The Lustration Committee is to organize the Neo-Nazi witch-hunt against all opponents of the new Neo-Nazi regime. The targets of the lustration campaign are people in positions of authority within the civil service, regional and municipal governments, education, research, etc.
The term lustration refers to the “mass disqualification” of people associated with the former government. It also has racial overtones. It will in all likelihood be directed against Communists, Russians and members of the Jewish community.
It is important to reflect on the fact that the West, formally committed to democratic values, has not only spearheaded the demise of an elected president, it has instated a political regime integrated by Neo-Nazis.
This is a proxy government which enables the US, NATO and the EU to interfere in Ukraine’s internal affairs and dismantle its bilateral relations with the Russian Federation. It should be understood, however, that the Neo-Nazis do not ultimately call the shots. The composition of the Cabinet broadly coincides with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland ” recommendations” contained in the leaked telephone call to the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.
Washington has chosen to spearhead Neo-Nazis into positions of authority. Under a “regime of indirect rule”, however, they take their orders on crucial military and foreign policy issues –including the deployment of troops directed against the Russian federation– from the the US State Department, the Pentagon and NATO.
The World is at a dangerous crossroads: The structures and composition of this proxy government installed by the West do not favor dialogue with the Russian government and military.
A scenario of military escalation leading to confrontation of Russia and NATO is a distinct possibility. The Ukraine’s National Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU) which is controlled by Neo-Nazis plays a central role in military affairs. In the confrontation with Moscow, decisions taken by the RNBOU headed by Neo-Nazi Parubiy and his brown Shirt deputy Dmytro Yarosh –in consultation with Washington and Brussels– could potentially have devastating consequences.
However, it goes without saying that “support” to the formation of a Neo-Nazi government does not in any way imply the development of “fascist tendencies” within the White House, the State Department and the US Congress.
“The flowering of democracy” in Ukraine –to use the words of the New York Times– is endorsed by Republicans and Democrats. It’s a bipartisan project. Lest we forget, Senator John McCain is a firm supporter and friend of Neo-Nazi Svoboda leader Oleh Tyahnybok (Image right).

The Neoliberal Neo-Nazi Coup in Ukraine with Michel Chossudovsky

Transcript by Rawan Mahmasa
Violence and bloodshed continues to rock Ukraine as factions compete in the power vacuum of last month’s coup in Kiev. As the country struggles to find its way forward, however, it finds itself in the crosshairs of a NATO war agenda that has been unfolding for years. This is the GRTV feature interview with our special guest, Professor Michel Chossudovsky.
So we have no military obligation here to defend Ukraine. And do you think there is a military option, even if we had an obligation?
Senator McCain:
I’d love to tell you that there is, Andrea, but frankly, I do not see it. I’m glad to see our US military naval presence in the Black Sea again. I wish that there were, but I think that these sanctions can really have a serious effect.
Prof. Chossudovsky:
Well, first, I think we must understand that this is an act of war against Ukraine. It’s a carefully led intelligence operation at the level of intelligence, military, diplomatic. It is part of a broader global military agenda of destabilization, of non conventional warfare which has led against several countries simultaneously. The interventions in Syria, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Venezuela are of a similar sometimes of a similar nature, sometimes different, but they’re part of the same coordinated agenda. And the threats directed against Iran and China are part of the same agenda. This coup d’état in Ukraine is part of an agenda of global warfare, of global conquest. Now, of course, we’re not dealing with a traditional Coup d’état, Pinochet-style 1973. We’re dealing with non conventional forms of destabilization, but nonetheless, we must call things by their name a regime change under these circumstances, where you start supporting neo Nazi groups is it is an act of warfare, and it is an act of warfare, particularly when the lives of civilians are used to justify a political agenda. And with regard to Ukraine, I’m referring to the sniper fire on February 20, which we documented very carefully at the time and which subsequently has been revealed to have been led by those who are presently in the coalition government.
Speaker:
Well the evidence shows the people who were killed by snipers from both sides among policemen and people from the streets, that they were the same snipers killing people from both sides. And then she also showed me some photos. She said that has medical doctor. She can say that it is the same handwriting, the same type of bullets, and it’s really disturbing that now the new coalition, that they don’t want to investigate what exactly happened so that there is no stronger and stronger understanding that behind snipers. It was not …, but it was somebody from the new coalition.
Prof. Chossudovsky:
There’s absolutely no doubt that these sniper fire shootings both on civilians as well as on police was a carefully engineered intelligence operation. They’ve been applied in many countries and they’re part of the toolbox of the US intelligence apparatus. It goes back to a well known operation which was called Operation Northwards in the 90s 60s, which was never implemented but it was an operation, a covert operation which was under the auspices of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the time, was to start killing people in the Miami community, Cuban community, and then blaming it on the Cuban government of Castro as a cooked up pretext to intervene militarily in Cuba. This Operation Northwoods was declined. It’s well known and it’s been extensively quoted. It’s not known to the public, but essentially it lays the groundwork. President Kennedy and the defense Secretary, Robert McNamara at the time refused to implement it. But it is on record. And it is called essentially, to quote General Tommy Franks, who was central commander during the Iraq war. He uses the term massive casualty producing event. That term is a military concept. In other words, you go in, you kill civilians, and then you blame it on the government.
They have done that extensively, extensively in Syria, whereby they will kill civilians, in fact, right from day one. And then they say the government is killing its own people. Well, these sniper fires of February 20th are of that nature. They are part of a military doctrine. And there’s ample evidence now to the fact that the Western military alliance is behind this. But more specifically, people in high office politicians. Kathryn Ashton and many other people are complicit in this project.
I am a Republican. Senator Murphy is a Democrat. We are here together speaking for the American people in solidarity with you.
Prof. Chossudovsky:
The people who have taken over the government are by bunch of thugs. And I don’t use the word in a light way. We have neo Nazis who are responsible for national security, defense. They oversee a very powerful national security and defense committee. They put these neo Nazi people in positions of authority. And we must also understand that this is the first neo-Nazi government, full fledged neo-Nazi government installed in the post World War II period. Now, the question we have to ask us ourselves, this is a neo-Nazi party. Who are people behind this neo-Nazi party? Because ultimately all these people are ultimately obeying orders emanating from the West, emanating from Washington and Brussels, but specifically from Washington. And we have to ask ourselves the very important question. Are the architects of this neo-Nazi government, the people who have conspired to implement a neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine? Are they neo-Nazis or are they neoliberals?
They proclaim to be neoliberals.
And in fact, they are acting on behalf of a neoliberal economic agenda. We have ample evidence that in addition to the so-called intelligence operations, the diplomatic initiatives, and so on, they’re also covert, covert and overt, operations led by major Western foundations with a view to co-opting civil society. We call this the colored revolution, but essentially it’s led through various tax free foundations which are linked up to Wall Street, as well as the US State Department, the US Congress. These various foundations will co opt various political groups within society and they will support mechanisms of dissent and opposition to the established government. In turn, they may even in some circumstances, also support the government and support the opposition to the government so that they create conditions for dissent. This has been, I think, fairly well understood. But we must understand that that particular component of supporting NGOs, particular political parties, the neo-Nazi parties, have been supported in this fashion is part of a broader agenda. It’s not something which is separate from decisions taken by US intelligence, by the military. At the diplomatic level and at the level of the major financial institutions. There’s a coordination. It may not be an explicit coordination, but all these things are implemented simultaneously.
And the various forms of supporting, let’s say, NGOs or political parties intervening into the sovereign affairs of a country is something which has become quite routine where NGOs, let’s say in the Russian Federation, the Pussy riots, et cetera, they get funding from Western sources. This is something which is being implemented systematically.
Ukraine is asking Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenuk said on Friday he is determined to comply with conditions set by the International Monetary Fund in exchange for loans. An IMF mission is due in Kiev next week for talks with Ukraine’s de facto leaders. We have said the heavily indebted country needs at least 35 billion U. S. dollars to stave off bankruptcy.
Prof. Chossudovsky:
I should mention that in all cases the preconditions for social conflict and violence are already established as a result of mechanisms of impoverishment imposed by Western creditors on these countries. And it’s done through the International Monetary Fund. Egypt 1991, major reforms which literally destroyed the bread basket, impoverished the population and created conditions for social dissent and division within these societies. Ukraine, 1994, it was an IMF program. It was negotiated with the government.
Bread prices go up.
Fly high overnight 300%. The cost of electricity goes up 600%. Transportation goes up 900%. These former Soviet Republics all have been impoverished and ultimately the coup d’etat is implemented on a background of impoverishment and social conflict which has also created the social conflict between Ukrainians and Russians and so on and within various societies. We have the same situation in Egypt so that they use social divisions within these societies to support various groups and they usually support both sides and those social divisions have already been created as a result of these deadly macro-economic reforms imposed by Western creditors and implemented under the helm of the International Monetary Fund.
The world is at a dangerous crossroads. The structures and composition of this proxy government installed by the West do not favor dialogue with the Russian government and military. A scenario of military escalation leading to confrontation of Russia and NATO is a distinct possibility. The Ukraine’s National Security and National Defense Committee RNBOU which is controlled by neo-Nazis plays a central role in military affairs in the confrontation with Moscow. Decisions taken by the RNBOU headed by neo Nazi Andrij Parubiy and his Brown shirt deputy Dmitro Yarosh in consultation with Washington and Brussels could potentially have devastating consequences.
